In spite of the fact that he is just as much white as he is black, white people just don't like President Barack Obama very much. According to a recent Gallup poll, President Obama's approval rating among whites has dropped to 39 percent. His overall approval rating has dropped below 50 percent, which is a 16 percentage point decline since his high of 66 percent earlier this year. African Americans love the president, giving him a consistent approval rating above 90 percent. So in spite of the fact that he may not pay much attention to us, we are a critical part of his political engine.
Obama is not nearly as bad of a president as some are trying to say that he is. In fact, many Americans still have faith in him. The problem, however, is that when the economy suffers, a president's popularity suffers. Even Clinton and Reagan had tough years, but did quite well when the economy took off.
Another point where Obama lost a great deal of his political heat with white America was during the Henry Louis Gates debacle. Obama's ill-timed, unplanned remarks about this tiny dispute between an officer and a citizen caused the president to immediately lose 7 percent of his white support. I am all for the idea of Barack Obama taking a stand for black men (Lord knows that he usually can't even think about doing that), but that was the wrong time for President Obama to transform into a Black Panther. The point I made in my own commentary was that a president taking on health care reform, two major wars and a poor economy needs to be incredibly focused.
Rather than wasting political capital to pursue the personal agenda of Henry Louis Gates, I would have preferred President Obama speak up on behalf of Walter Currie, the young black boy who was burned alive in a racially motivated incident in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Perhaps if Walter were a Harvard Professor, someone might consider speaking up for him at a press conference.
White resentment toward Obama is also strong because America has not gotten accustomed to having a black authority figure in the White House. Some were quick to approve of President Obama's policies when he was doing what they wanted him to do, but their trust doesn't extend to him pursuing the more pragmatic agenda he feels to be best for the country. I go through the same thing when teaching at a predominantly white university, where it is academically documented that black authority figures do not receive the same respect as white ones (of course our universities tell us that this is all in our heads). In the end, however, it is the decision to walk with power and confidence that ultimately gets you through tough situations.
Obama carries himself in clear presidential fashion: Never letting his enemies see him sweat and always handling every situation with the grace of a king. While he is not Martin Luther King, Barack Obama is certainly a king in his own right. He is the first black president, the George Washington of the black community. Whether Obama's approval rating rises or not, the magnitude of his feats thus far make him one of the greatest presidents in American history.

If we are, in fact, all equal no matter what color our skin is, then stop using the word 'black'. I was irritated when all the media referred to Mr Obama as "the first black president" as if it mattered. If it DOES matter, then we need to encourage racism. If the man's skin color does NOT matter, then IGNORE the man's skin color. By continually referring to someone's skin color, we do nothing but FOSTER racism. Stop with the "Black awareness", the "black history month", afirmative action, etc. Let's allow each person to be who they are on their own merits, without putting them in the box we think they belong in.
There are many questions that need to be answered in order to have confidence in Barack Obama - starting with the actual location of his birth. I have seen (on the web) pictures of his Hawaiian birth certificate, as well as his African birth certificate. I saw (you tube) an interview with someone who the translator said was Obama's grandmother, and she said that Barack Obama Jr. was born in Africa, and lived with her until Jr's mother left her husband, the President's father, when Jr was 2 years old.
There are many other questions that are being ignored by our current elected officials that really need answering. Who should I believe? Why are there two birth certificates? Which one is accurate? This question needs to be answered beyond the shadow of a doubt, and very publicly. Instead, the issue is being ignored by most of our elected officials.
It is not an issue of race - it's an issue of trust.

Just think of what JESUS went through! Always persecuted trying to make things right. People Say they read the bible but are HYPROCRITES. WE are a selfish society we only want things to go so perfect when we dont appreciate other things we dont go through. America needs to GROW UP! To not support your president you dont support your country!

The title of this article, "White People Don't Like President Barack Obama", is a racist statement. But let's consider this statement for a minute. If this statement were true, then it is unlikely that he would have ever become president in the first place. Now let's look at why people make these statement in the first place. It is natural for black people to want the first black president to succeed. Many people, especially blacks, will refuse to see his faults because of this. However, if you look at the overall statistics, the people's view of Obama did not start to decline until after he actually became president. Which clearly indicates the absence of racism in the opinion polls.
Of course, in my life's experiences, I have found that whenever you do not like anything that a black person does, they too often claim that it is racism. When are people going to realize that in today's society, very few people are actually racist. If we say that we do not like someone, it is because we don't like them. Whether they are black, white, brown, or pink with purple checks, is totally irrelevant. Although, personally, I believe that many black people will always view the world in this manner, because they refuse to evolve and see the world in a better light. They use it like a trump card.
Now, for those of you whom wish to call me racist ...think again. I have four children, two of which are half black, one is half hispanic, and the other is half Korean. I have the most beautiful children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren on the the planet. I have never seen color, and never will. What I do "not" like, is ignorance. Which is where the statement in this article comes from. Until, black people can let go of their past, they will never have a better future. No one else in the world views blacks the way they view their own kind. I cringe every time I hear one black person call another "Nigga". How can you expect the rest of the world to respect you, when you walk around disrespecting one another, and yourselves?!
I remember back when I was a teenager. I was accused by blacks on numerous occasions of being the cause of all black people's problem. As if I alone was there over a hundred years ago, and was personally responisble for the slavery of black people. lol And no, I am not joking. I also found that Blacks that I have met in my life, were far more racist than any white people I have ever known! On more than one occasion, I was yelled at for not being in my own neighborhood, and told that I didn't belong there. Of course, I didn't understand this mentality at the time, as I was young and innocent then. Even though, I was beaten, raped, and came close to death a couple of times in my life at the hands of blacks, I am still not a ractist. I refuse to let the ignorance of some, fill my heart with hatred. Why? Because I have known some very intelligent, and beautiful people in my life, who just happen to be black.
You must remove the hatred from your own heart. Be proud of who and what you are. Have respect for yourselves and for others. If someone tells you that they do not not like you, or comething you have said/ done, then listen to their reasons before assuming they are racist. Give the world the benefit of a doubt. When you accomplish a new way of thinking more positively about yourselves, and those around you, then and only then, will you make your own personal world a better place to live in. When you can see the world more clearly, then you will see that very few things are actually black or white ...they is a ocean of grey area. :o)
