After a two-month stint in a Swiss jail, director Roman Polanski will do "jail time" in his $1.6 million chalet located in a luxe Swiss winter ski resort.

The 76-year-old Polanski was released from jail last week, while the Justice Ministry decides whether to extradite him to the United States for having sex with a 13-year-old girl back in 1977.
Gstaad is a wealthy playground magnet that not only draws the likes of celebrities, such as Roger Moore, Valentino and Julie Andrews, but also royalty and socialites to boot. Well-to-dos lazily lavish at this resort, which is surrounded by breathtaking views of the snowcapped Swiss Alps and inhabited by the the crème de la crème of restaurants, shops and hotels. "You can get almost everything here, provided you've got the money," tourism chief Roger Seifritz told The Associated Press. "Locals tend to go to the big cities to buy things, but our rich guests can get what they want right here."
Polanski will just have to await his fate and tough it out in the confines of his 19,000-square foot, three-story stucco and wood home on the edge of Gstaad. According to a Justice Ministry spokesperson, Polanski is free to do as he pleases throughout the course of his day; there are no restrictions. Since the septuagenarian has no prison regime, he will also be allowed to host parties, work, e-mail, use the telephone without Big Brother listening in and order on a daily basis whatever food or supplies he needs.
The only drawbacks for Polanski is that he will be required to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet, just in case he gets any ideas to fly the coop. He is also not, under any circumstances, allowed to leave his compound. If he does, he'll lose his $4.5 million bail.
