Walmart, one of America's favorite shopping places, is quickly gaining a reputation for not being the place to frequent, especially around the holidays.
Porsha Thompson, 20, was in her vehicle with brother Jamar the day before Thanksgiving, at around 6:30 p.m., waiting patiently with her turn signal on, to pull in to a Walmart parking spot on South Post Oak in Houston. Careening out of nowhere, a black Dodge Durango, in an attempt to overtake the available parking space, struck Thompson's car.
The Durango's four African-American passengers exited their SUV after striking Thompson's vehicle. According to Jamar, the driver was a female and the passengers allegedly wielded knives and shouted curse words at them. After the suspects climbed back in to their vehicle, Thompson got out to inspect the damages to her car, and it was at this moment that the female driver suddenly ran her over with the SUV.
Thompson was taken to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, where she is listed in critical condition.
More than 100 family and friends held a prayer vigil this past Sunday at the Walmart parking lot, where the incident occurred. "She was a sweet girl. Right now it's in the hands of the Lord," said Emil Davis, the victim's step-father.
Following the Thompson incident, on Black Friday, there were two more Walmart-related violent reports that took place in California. One was a small brawl that occurred in Upland, and the other was a fight in the electronics department of a Rancho Cucamonga location.
The major retailer did have game plans in place this year to prevent the reoccurrence of a tragedy, which took place a year ago involving Jdimytai Damour, who was trampled to death in the crush of a Black Friday, Valley Stream, New York, shopping stampede.

Is ANYONE surprised? I'm not. Thugs, low life. I can't wait to hear the excuses for this one. I'm sure Walmart was responsible, or was it some White guy? Poor girl, hope she is going to be OK.

Right on. This was nothing short of attempted murder. Trying to kill someone over a parking space!?! The driver needs to spend the rest of her life in jail to protect the rest of us. Who knows what might set her off next and turn her into judge, jury , and executioner.

SHANTRELL!... you just added to the list of sins for which you hope to be forgiven. While asking for forgiveness, you might ask for some common horse sense and a brain do over.
Oh yes, and throw in a request for UNLOCK CAPS and some loving kindness. You seem to be all out of it!

How is Wal-Mart resposible for peoples behavior?!!
Shopping is like a religion in this country; a religion which demands blood sacrifices. How apropos in the light of recent incidents.
Hope this girl gets better soon.

Well the case of Porsha Thompson is far more serious, she wasn't just threatened with violence by all the occupants of the Durango.
They are all party to Porsha's attempted murder because they are knowingly aiding and abetting the driver, and share in her murderious intent. Porsha maynot yet died of her injuries but as her organs continue to fail its simply a matter of time, meanwhile three accomplices who actively participated in the commission of a crime along with the driver go about concealing themselves.
It would be a simple matter for the police to check vehicle registrations of all owner's Black Durango in the region if they wanted too, had Porsha been an active duty law enforcement officer I certain there would be a more serious effort to find her killer.
