Death Threats to First Lady

Kristy Lee Roshia was arrested on December 19 in Kaneohe, Hawaii, by the U.S. Secret Service for allegedly making death threats to our nation's First Lady Michelle Obama. Roshia was charged with making the threats and for assaulting a Secret Service agent as well. The woman also claimed, she would "blow away the whole Oval Office," according to a court affidavit.

The death threat was originally made in mid-November during one of several telephone calls that Roshia placed to the Secret Service in the Boston, Mass., area. Apparently, according to published reports, Roshia had been making belligerent daily calls to the Secret Service since 2007. In November of this year, the woman not only threatened to kill the First Lady but a Secret Service agent and U.S. Marines as well.

In trying to pinpoint where the disturbed woman lived, the Secret Service determined that she lived near a U.S. Marine Corp base in Hawaii. She had sent the Boston Secret Service office some correspondence the day before the death threat was made, which they in turn were able to trace back to Hawaii.

The first family is expected to travel to Honolulu on Christmas eve. Court documents reveal that Roshia knew exactly where the Obamas would be staying in Hawaii. During an interview with agents a few days ago, Roshia admitted she had gone to Hawaii in September to "protect Obama," and had been to the location, where the presidential family would be staying.

A detention hearing for Roshia is slated for Christmas eve in Hawaii.
