A young Florida couple were looking for takers, anyone whom they could sell their 2-month-old infant to, in a shopping center parking lot, and for the bargain price of $30.
According to the Escambia County Sheriff's Office, Robert Ellingson, 25, and Maghen Duvala, 23, tried selling their infant to a few teenagers, who were at the mall's parking lot. Ellingson and Duvala pulled up to the teens in their SUV and propositioned them. First the couple offered the kids beer and it was declined. Ellingson then asked the teens, if they were interested in purchasing the infant for $30.
The taken aback teens, who are members of Teen Challenge Ministries were at the mall doing a fundraiser car wash in the parking lot. At first the mortified teens thought it was a really bad joke. "But then the infant's mother yelled to the group that they were trying to sell the baby. And one of the teens called us," said sheriff's spokesman Glenn Austin.
The couple was arrested and will be charged with four counts each of child neglect. The child, whose sex and name are being withheld, was taken into custody by the Department of Children & Families.
Police reports state, just an hour earlier, the determined couple tried to sell the baby at a bank parking lot that was just a few blocks away from the mall.

They had to be high! $30???
They could have gone the adoption route & get a hefty "donation." Certainly more honorable!

That is truly a great example of divine intervention by God. The Christian group TEEN CHALLENGE were there and God used them. The actions of these 2 individuals is the direct result of a inward/outward cry for help. Maybe now for 2010 they can get some assistance. They need to breakaway from one another tho. Misery surely loves company.

so sad, but perhaps a blessing. given more time, these soulless individuals may have given us the next caylee anthony or shaniya davis. as a father who loves his young child more than life itself i can't wrap my mind around the darkness and absence of love that lives within these people. please, as we go about our business from day to day, if you see or know a child that needs help, do what you can (without placing yourself in danger). please?

Drugs has to be the motivating factor. If sheet like this is not an example to just say no, I don't know what is.
Thank God those kids called the authorities ASAP. This situation could've have had a different outcome.

Somehow I knew the comments would be far and few between as all the "racial Bloggers" won't touch this one with a 30 foot pole. Anyhow, this story is really a feel good one in disguise because this child was rescued and our faith restored for the moment. Divine intervention is a beautiful thing.
