Obamas Return to the White House

President Barack Obama and family returned from their Hawaii vacation today. Unfortunately, their 11-day stay was interrupted early on with the botched Christmas Day terrorist attack. News of the incident overwhelmed the rest of the first family's holiday, with reports, homeland security updates and memos. Now, back in Washington, the president must once again tackle differing versions of the health care bill in the House and Senate. [NPR]

Airplane Passengers Subject to New Screening
On Sunday, the Transportation Security Administration announced that passengers from Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Yemen, tagged "countries of interest," must undergo "body scans, pat downs and a thorough search of carry-on luggage." In addition, U.S.-bound passengers boarding international flights will experience "random screening." [ABC News]

'Avatar' Continues to Bring in Major Money

'Avatar' led the box office for the third straight weekend, bringing in $68.3 million domestically and $1 billion worldwide. It's only the fifth movie to ever hit the billion-dollar mark. [Washington Post]
