Winfrey, Banks and Underwood are all on record as publicly stating that the endorse PETA's anti-fur efforts, while the first lady cannot endorse special interest groups such as PETA.
"We did not consent to this," a spokeswoman for Michelle Obama said yesterday.
PETA refuses to take the ads down and claim that Mrs. Obama's past anti-fur statements give them a license to use her in their campaign.
I've always had mild respect for the aggression of PETA when it comes to protecting the rights of animals, but I am not a fan of their bullying tactics. As evidenced during the Michael Vick trial, PETA has gotten to the point that they seem to have almost no respect for the law, nor the rights of others. While I do not support the idea of killing animals in order to wear them, I am not comfortable with an organization that tramples on the concept of self-respect and respect for other people.
I'll be making my donation to the Humane Society instead of PETA. But then again, like Martin and Malcolm, it appears that the "good cop, bad cop" strategy is working quite well in the world of animal rights. People support the Humane Society in large part because they can't stomach the tactics of PETA.

What is this woman complaining about? PETA actually paid her a compliment!! would she rather her image be used on a bucket of fried chicken? Her image should have been used for Delta Airlines with a caption saying "Fly your family and 150 friends to Hawaii round trip on the taxpayers dime for the Holidays"!!

People like you are only heard of because of the anonymity of email. You would NEVER have the guts or gall to speak those words where people could see your face or respond. Therefore, you don't REALLY EXIST!

PETA has lost their freaking minds for that Disrespecting the First Lady like that! Also...
Can you believe that Mario sold out to PETA by displaying his tattoos? The message for that particular ad is for Black People to ink your self and wear tattoos and not fur. What in the world is PETA doing perpetuating this image and encouraging black people to get tattoos, as if, we're not already obsessed with permanently marking up our bodies enough. I'm not disrespecting the ideal of people getting tattoos or for those who have them already, but that should be an individual choice without any influence of any kind of organization, especially PETA!
The point I'm making is that they had no business going there! I bet if somebody was to shave a "PITBULL", let alone a poodle, have it tattooed, and send pictures of it to PETA and to everybody else on the internet, it would be the end of the world!!
I'll pay money to see their reaction to that in 3D IMAX style!

I agree with you it should be our own choices as to weather we get tattoo's or if we wear fur. To be honest I have 3 furs and will wear them when ever and where ever I wont to and could care less what anybody thinks or say's.

PETA is crazy. Where is the love and respect for humans? They are throwing flour at people. Encouraging people to inject themselves with ink.And totally disrespecting the wishes of humans. If I didn't know any better I would swear PETA is ran by some teenage girls.

What you are failing to see -Mackie- is that as the First Lady, she cannot endorse any special interest groups. Besides, PETA is sexist, elitist, and extremist. Also, why are you asking the question whether she'd rather have her face on a chicken box or Delta? Why are you even on this site?

Like my momma said "There was no concern about animals being worn as fur coats until black people could afford them"

While I applaud PETA's mission, their methods are less than impressing. I agree wholeheartedly with the First Lady. She is prohibited from endorsing special interest groups, which makes the fact that she was featured in the ad a legal issue for her and the severity of that aspect was completely under-minded by clever yet manipulative promotion tactics. Bottom line...PETA should have asked the First Lady if she wanted to be featured in their ad...and then accepted their rejection graciously.
