Guiliani Lauds President for Declaring U.S. at War

Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York, said in an interview with 'Good Morning America' today that President Barack Obama "turned a corner" when he declared the United States at war. Apparently, this was a compliment, although Giuliani made sure to note that he thought the Obama administration didn't take enough time questioning alleged Nigerian terrorist Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. December Report Reveals Continued Job Slump

Today, the government released December's labor report, revealing that 85,000 jobs were lost and unemployment is still at 10 percent. This job loss was much more than economists expected. Alleged Nigerian Terrorist to Appear in Court Today
Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is due in federal court on Friday for his arraignment. Abdulmutallab faces charges after failing to detonate a chemical-laden explosive on a Detroit-bound Northwest Airlines flight. With so many witnesses, the defense team is said to have little room to negotiate. Many are speculating that the alleged terrorist will take a plea deal in exchange for divulging information about al-Qaeda. [AP]

Mind-Reading Technology: Possible Solution for Airport Security

Mind-reading technology is being offered up by security experts as an option to stop would-be terrorists at airports. The technology would have highly developed sensors that would be attuned to body language and the inner workings of people's minds in order to flag them for security purposes. Other options include controversial profiling, which many see as an infringement on citizens' rights; lie detector tests; and the Israeli model, which probes travelers with pointed questions.
