Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich tells Esquire magazine that he is "blacker than Barack Obama." The ousted governor is causing quite a stir with his comments, which will be featured in the February issue of Esquire. Blagojevich refers to himself as a real person in a political arena dominated by phonies, while referring to President Barack Obama as "this guy."
"I'm blacker than Barack Obama. I shined shoes. I grew up in a five-room apartment. My father had a little laundromat in a black community not far from where we lived," Blagojevich said. "I saw it all growing up." "What the (expletive)? Everything he's saying's on the teleprompter," Blagojevich told the magazine.
So far, the White House has refused to comment on the matter.
Hmmm, very interesting, Rod. So you can say that you are blacker than President Obama because you shined shoes and lived in a five-room apartment? The problem with that analysis, my friend, is that you may have lived the poor experience, but not necessarily the black experience. While there are millions of African Americans who grow up poor, there are millions more who have everything they need. What is most problematic about Blagojevich's "blacker than Obama" statement is that even most black people can't define what it really means to be black. That's like asking what it really means to be white. Most white people don't know the answer to that question.
Finally, I must humbly submit that I don't think that owning a laundromat in a black neighborhood gives you a "black man license" either. Almost none of the businesses in black communities are actually owned by black people, so this would not make you unique.
Perhaps rather than having a "blacker than Obama" contest with the president, you can simply stand on your own merits as a genuine advocate for the black community. You can cite your record for doing things that support the issues that matter most for African Americans, evidenced by the fact that so many African Americans in Illinois stood by you during your difficult time.
Oh yeah, trying to present yourself as the only genuine politician in a world of phonies is an old trick. Every politician does it, including Barack Obama. I'll believe you're a genuine politician when you're no longer a politician. Then, my friend, I might consider you to be "blacker than Obama" (whatever that's supposed to mean).

As a Korean American from Chicago, I can say that it sounds like he's confusing Black with Korean!

you know what the man has a point because he has experienced more things in his life that related to blacks than our President. Remember also that there happens to be a big gap between blacks that have and blacks that don't have, so these blacks that have more do consider themselves to be closer to white than black. Don't try to act like the man Blagojevich is so terrible in what he has said because there is a difference in having all you need and not having anything and that's basically what he is saying. Remember our President was raised by whites not blacks so of course he does have more white in him than the average black person. so what you all are trying to say that President Obama kids will be as black as the next black child, hell no. those children lifestyles are as close to white and always have been so there is no way that they can understand the average or even above average black child. Everttime someone white starts commenting on blacks and the lifestyle of blacks, somebody gets defensive and why is that. Oh of course we don't want all of our little secrets about how we don't really care for each other as blacks, how we do more damage to each other than any white person ever could or that we are so prejudice against one another that we as black people are the racist people in the world because we are racist against each other. How about the new presidentof the NAACP does he have anything in common to blacks, hell no he looks mexican. I am getting so damn tired of reading about stupid comments that blacks make, even the news articles are stupid and not really researched.

Mookm988- I'm a black man and I want you first stop all the fatalistic thinking - it'll get you no where. Secondly, no where in your post did you imply that you understand why blacks are like they are. You had alot of negative things to say about them but what you missed, and it's key, is that they're taught these behaviors. Those behaviors can be untaught. How does it happen? Alot of it is thru the media which, in the US, is anti-black and has been for 400 yrs. A steady diet of this anti-black media will produce a black person who can't love blacks, can't unify with blacks, hates their skin color and facial features and wishes they were white. Imagine that, hoping to be brutal slavers, rapers and liars. That's crazy. Regarding the Obamas: those girls have everthing paid for but Michelle and her mom and family seem like they'll be able to keep those girls grounded. So my friend, you're as wrong as you can be. Take a deep breathe and have faith. Black people are great people and always have been. There's just alot of brainwashed people who need deprogramming. Peace.

And Mook, what's happened cause those negative behaviors are present in several generations of todays blacks is you get a snowball effect going if people aren't deprogrammed when they're young. You get selfhating grandma who raised selfhating mom who raised selfhating jr. There is a solution. You have to understand our system and it's media component. You have to acknowledge 1st then resist the anti-black brainwashing. You then have to gently correct your fellow blacks when they show evidence of their brainwashing. You can tell them from a variety of terms. They say stuff like, Sambo, negro please, N**A, she has good hair, etc. There the brainwashed ones and you gently correct them. That's right, those rappers are straight up brainwashed cause they call each other the name the oppressor gave them and they're even cowardly enough to tolerate non-blacks calling them that. That's disrespect and disloyal to our ancestors. So you correct - then the snowball effect will happen in reverse. Peace.

Sorry but i don't think it's right for this guy to sa that he thinks he is 'blacker' because he grew up poor. Does growing up poor make you black? That is such a screwed up way of thinking. If you're white then there's absolutely nothing that can make you blacker than a black person.
