Wal-Mart Pulls Products From Shelves
Due to the high levels of poisonous cadmium found in children's jewelry imported from China, Wal-Mart has pulled the merchandise off its shelves. The Associated Press broke the contamination story on Monday, and federal and state regulators quickly reacted to the information. In 2008, the government focused its efforts on detecting lead in Chinese imports, so the Chinese began using lead substitutes. Unfortunately, cadmium is even more toxic. [AP]

New Jersey's Patients to Receive Medical Marijuana
New Jersey became the 14th state yesterday to allow its chronically ill patients to use medical marijuana. The legislature approved the bill, and Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine, who also backs the bill, is expected to sign it, making it law before he leaves office next week. [CNN]
