Some of us might know Dr. Conrad Murray as the incompetent, unethical and down right evil doctor accused of killing the icon of a generation, Michael Jackson. But many of Dr. Murray's patients don't see things that way. There is a reason Jackson chose Murray as his doctor, and it may not be just because he seemed willing to bend the rules.
In spite of the allegations against him, some of Dr. Conrad Murray's patients are remaining highly loyal to their physician. They are ignoring the hype and what we see in the media and going back to the doctor they argue is not nearly the villain the world thinks he is.
"I made sure to call and have my name added to his patient wait list, so that when he comes back, I will still be under his care," stated one of Dr. Murray's patients.
While it may seem insane that someone would continue to frequent the establishment of a doctor who is accused of such a heinous crime, the truth is that these patients may not be as whacked out as you might be tempted to believe. Here are some reasons that Dr. Conrad Murray may not be as bad as the media are leading you to believe. Here are some reasons that Dr. Murray's patients may be loyal to him:
1) A slip in ethics does not imply complete incompetence: Most of us know good people who mistakes. Give me a break if you truly think that a good doctor can't do something wrong or unethical. Not to say that Dr. Murray's behavior should be excused, but the idea that he is a complete quack is kind of silly. At the same time, he should be punished for violating the law if that is what happened. Remember, however, that he is guilty until proven innocent.
2) Dr. Murray may have been caught up in the moment: From what I've gathered, Dr. Murray was having financial problems when he signed on to be Michael Jackson's doctor. When you're struggling to pay the bills and a celebrity offers you $150,000 per month to do a job, you're likely going to be influenced by the money, the fame and the pressure. This does not excuse Dr. Murray's actions, but it does remind us that if you don't want to be tempted to violate your ethical standards, you should avoid making yourself financially vulnerable. An example might be the NCAA, where many cash strapped universities consistently violate their academic standards to admit multi-million dollar assets, I mean athletes.
3) Black professionals are more likely to be viewed as being less competent than their white counterparts: I find it quite interesting that while the doctors for Kanye West's mother, Donda, and Michael Jackson have been put in front of the public as the worst doctors on earth, no one has done the same to the doctors of Heath Ledger and Anna Nicole Smith. Even when you consider unapologetic black leaders, such as Louis Farrakhan, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, they are also made into a joke by the media. Yes, this does relate to race. It doesn't mean that Dr. Murray didn't do anything wrong, but there are thousands of doctors who break the law, but are not paraded to the country as agents of death.
4) Dr. Murray's patients know him and we do not: Usually, what we see in the media simply isn't true. I met a scholar who once said, "My friends tell me that Boyce Watkins is a tyrant and a terrible person." I then went on to find out that not one of the people who told her that story had ever met me in person. The media makes people larger than life, and people want to believe what they read. In the case of Dr. Murray, his patients have had him save their lives and make them well. That is probably why they love him.

Well, its easy to respect him when you are the patient waking up everyday to your carry on your life and care for your family. Interview the Jacksons, especially Paris, Prince, Blanket and Mrs. Jackson, and see if that respect is there. Better yet, hold a sayance and ask Michael if he respects him still. I respect lots of doctors that haven't killed me or my loved ones but have sent others to their untimely graves.

I agree with both comments ( Dr. Watkins's and your's ) however, the fact that Dr. Murray ( or any physician for that matter ) would knowingly, violate the Hippocratic Oath for profit is ( in my opinion ) abominable.
Dr. Watkins, you may outline Dr. Murray's accolades and patient's testimonies however, intelligent people find it quite dubious that Mr. Jackson's personal health headed his list of priorties. This not about strong black leaders or the immediate criticism aimed at them for the slightest impropriety, nor is it relative to incompetancy. We're dealing with the lack of integrity within a being who was responsible for a fellow being's life. It causes one to infer that for one hundred fifty thousand dollars a month, the " good " doctor would have gladly administered rat poison, not enough to kill him but, enough to keep the cash flowing indefinitely.

This poor doctor is being used as a scapegoat for their drug addict son and father. They knew he was past reform and its sad they are passing the buck on this black doctor.
Although, the world loved Michael's talent he was a child molester and a drug addict. Had he been the average person he would have been in jail and killed.
Let's stop putting sex offenders and drug addicts in Hollywood on pedestals because of their music.
Michael's mother needs her fat behind kicked and if her children are an example of how she is going to raise another generation of nuts then the real parents of these white kids needs to take them. They are going to be another generation of nuts. Nothing is cute and adorable about these children with obviously mixed up minds.

What's this " Report This " business underneath my comment? It appears odiously suspicious.

Dr. Murrays was not qualified to administer the medications in question without the proper diagnosis, equipment and expertise. His word is entirely against Michael Jackson's (who is no longer around to defend himself). Nevertheless, I do feel that, in lieu of the fact that Dr. Murray has yet to receive a penny for his service to Michael Jackson, his gross negligence may have been motivated by this fact. His finances were in complete shambles and he may have been in dispute about not being paid. Therefore, he may have intentionally mixed up the "sedative cocktail" out of spite and make it appear as though Michael Jackson was a "junkie" who contributed to his own dimise. Also, he failed to summon the proper medical support in a timely manner once Michael Jackson was in distress which raises further suspicions. Michael Jackson's untimely death was definitely avoidable and senseless indeed.

Blacks, in general, are represented as incompetent because of a racism-based system best exemplified by Hollywood. I have found "white" doctors to be incompetent and money hungry. I went to Patient First (whatever that means) and could not find a doctor who could even diagnose a Poison Ivy infection. That is incompetence, gross ignorance, or deliberate misinformation! What I was told was preposterous and even I could not believe it and proceeded to search for answers myself.

Doesn't matter who repects him, they should wake up and realize that he is not as good a doctor as they think if he administered medicine without the right equipment in case it was needed. So he did this with the cocky assurance that Michael would be fine and he would get his precious money from Michael. Greed does not make a person or a doctor.
Rest in peace Michael! Love you more!

Michael Jackson abused pain killers and lord knows what else. So please stop placing the blame only on the doctor. His family was aware of his problem. Chanelle a white doctor can make the same mistake and they do daily. So I don't see how black doctors make you nervous. All doctors make me nervous.

Dr. Murray should be treated like any other doctor who misdiagnoses a patient and is sanctioned for it. It's just that in this case, dealing with a known, fragile, high profile celebrity Dr. Murray should have been absolutely sure that what he was doing was above board and without reproach. If he knew that he was injecting Michael with something that needed strict guidelines for useage why was he so callous and unprofessional in his judgement and conduct?
