A 15-year-old girl was beaten and robbed in a Seattle Bus tunnel as three unarmed security guards watched it happen. The girl told investigators that she thought the guards would protect her from her attackers, and she even ran near the guards to get away from her assailants. Instead, the guards simply called police and watched the girl get beaten and kicked in the head several times. The thieves stole the girl's purse, phone and iPod.
The young woman told detectives that the group followed her from a local department store in to the bus tunnel at Westlake Station on January 28. When incidents like these take place, guards are ordered to "observe and report" only, not to intervene. The guards are employed by Olympic Security Services, Inc.
"I went to the security and told them that these kids were trying to jump me," the girl said. "I know that I am about to get jumped, and I am hanging around the guards to try and get protection. ... I thought the security guards would defend me."
The perpetrators have been charged and arrested, but the girl is recovering from her injuries. Citing a potentially fatal heart condition, she said that she kept covering her chest as she was getting kicked by her attackers.
You want my take on the issue? OK, let me calm down first, because I am absolutely furious.
How in the *&^% can you call yourself a security company if you are not actually providing security? A young child is being beaten by a mob of attackers and your people are trained to simply watch it happen? If these individuals are not there to provide security, then the label "security guard" should probably be removed. Perhaps actual transit police should be in the area, since we know that crime happens in bus tunnels, as it does everywhere else.
The city of Seattle needs to find better "security guards" for their bus tunnels, since apparently, its citizens are not safe. What's fundamentally true in this case is that the guards would have been fired for intervening, so their behavior is almost understood. At that point, the company hiring the "guards" must be held accountable for its policies. We also have to remember, though, that it is the city of Seattle who ultimately controls the security within its bus tunnels, so the city should be the target of public outrage. They've got to do a better job of protecting the city's children.

Greetings,
Sometimes in making statements we believe that we understand our own reasonings, and while we may all get tired of hearing about something having to do with race, the main issue, is our response to the problem, not looking at the way in which someone else responds. Often times I wonder what people really think of the violence that they see. My guess is that after a while, I believe that people become what they feed themselves. So if you feed yourself the lie that you are better than someone else, then you will project that. When we make critical judgments about a race of people, neither liking nor understanding the plight of those persons, than we become the oppressors against their progression. Life is way too short, to get hung up on "it's a black think, or white people made me do it" card. Time to live civily amongst one another, and grab ahold to the powerful commandments from God, which is to love thy neighbor has thyself. One day we will all have to demonstrate our love to self and to others, and we won't be the judge then.

Boyce you chump, this was a perfect opportunity to raise the issue of black on black crime, a HUGE issue. No, couldn't be critical of such a obvious issue, for obvious reasons.

YOU can do even better by submerging below all the surface analysis to see what caused the flood of events.
Start with some basic facts, at which point in history did black crime become a HUGE issue, (as you so explicitly point out), what planted the SEED that grew into it?
What’s watering the crops?
(Take an educated Unbiased Guess)
Sure, we can always see WHAT, but why not include WHY while at it?
Complaining about the problem(s) while fundamentally supporting what causes it, is stupid, ya think?
We all know what the problem “IS” we ALSO know how it “CAN BE SOLVED”, but it appears many stand to gain more by the continuance of the problem than they would otherwise lose upon its terminations.
Even YOU should know that!

Have we gotten so callous that this behavior is funny or acceptable? That girl could have gotten killed not to mention brain damage. No we watch and glorify violence in television, movies, music, it is no small wonder our youth think it is okay to act this way over a "boy". That boy will laugh when the attacker goes on trial, and may possibly get close to the one who was attacked. Or more likely have another girl already. As far as the guards I have one question. If that girl would have died would your paycheck cover the cost of your feelings of guilt and remorse for not doing more? Now no one is safe since the whole world knows the words Security Guards at that particular place means N-O-T-H-I-N-G. I hope none of you guys are in a situation like that and the men will stand there and say I couldn't do a thing. I AM ROYALLY PISSED.
