"I find it interesting that you have a lot of the Republicans running around and pushing back on stimulus money and saying this doesn't create any new jobs, and then they go out and do photo-ops and they're posing with the big check and they say, 'Isn't this great! Look the kind of money I provide here for the state! And this is great money to create jobs, and this has created 10,000 new jobs, and this has created 20,000 new jobs," California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said on ABC TV's "This Week." "It doesn't match up."
The governor's latest tirade surrounds the controversy behind President Barack Obama's economic recovery plan. Schwarzenegger said that Republicans have decided to oppose the president because they think it will lead to victories in the November election, making him one of the few Republicans who have outwardly embraced the stimulus bill.
The California governor continues to stand practically solo from his fellow party members who have continuously thrown darts at the plan. Yesterday, he went a step further calling them "hyprocrites" and harshly criticizing Republican party members for voting against the plan but then accepting credit for the various stimulus-related projects that have taken root in their states.
Schwarzenegger offered this explanation for his blatant accusation with regards to the plan: "I don't want to beat up on my Republican colleagues, but I think it's kind of politics rather than thinking about only one thing and this is, 'How do we support the president... in order to go ahead and stimulate the economy?' And think about the people rather than the politics," Schwarzenegger said.
The opinionated governor also referred to Republicans as a "party of no," because of their blanket opposition to President Obama, even when he pushes proposals that they agree with.

While I am not a Californian, my opinion of Governor Schwarzemegger hasn't diminished. In fact, his recent remarks have only strengthened my opinion of him. To bad he wasn't governor of California when I was in the state.
