Rep. Charles Rangel will be admonished by the House Ethics Committee for violating regulations on receiving gifts. The problem stems from a trip that he and other members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) took to the Caribbean in 2007 and 2008. The committee found that the other five CBC members committed no wrong-doing but determined that Rangel "violated the House gift rules by accepting payment for reimbursement for travel to the 2007 and 2008 conferences," according to a statement.
While Rangel's staff knew that corporations had given money to Carib News, who sponsored the event, the ethics committee determined that these facts were not shared, when Rangel requested approval to take the trip. The committee also determined that Rangel did not know about the contributions.
"The committee does not find sufficient evidence to conclude, nor does it believe that it would discover additional evidence to alter its conclusion, that Representative Rangel had actual knowledge of the memoranda written by his staff. However, the report finds that Representative Rangel was responsible for the knowledge and actions of his staff in the performance of their official duties."
Charles Rangel is Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee - the body that writes tax law in the House. He is expected to repay the costs of the trips.
"I don't want to be critical of the committee but common sense dictates that members of Congress should not be held responsible for what could be the wrongdoing or mistakes or errors of staff unless there's reason to believe that the member knew or should have known," said Rangel. "And there's nothing in the record to indicate the latter."
There have been recent reports questioning the Congressional Black Caucus and its sources of funds. A recent New York Times article determined that the group's charitable organizations are funded by industries that may not be helpful to the black community, such as Rent-to-Own.

Another "prominent" Negro with multiple ethics violations.
He follows in the footsteps of MLK, Al Sharpton, and countless other Negro frauds.

The both of you are ill, who cares if you racists don't like blacks. I don't know one person who has said that they have a great love for you red behind the neck people. You speak about trouble for the blacks you are so blinded to the crooks that hold positions in your group, you say that it is ok. Governors cheating on their wives. oh that is just a friend. Paying families off to keep quite. By the way you are not the great white hopes that you think. I really love that fact that you are gun hungry, you people are killing 5 to 1 people than blacks. You really need to stop calling your white on white crime a sickness and locking them up in a hospital. Prison and death is what should be done for you I love my gun carring freaks.

.....indeed Bill,
....and what is even more troubling is that by and large far too many individuals within Black community worship, give praise, and/or bend
over backwards to name a Public Park or street after individuals who have betrayed the Black community!
Congressman Charlie Rangel is as guilty as guilty can get. It would not be surprizing in the least to find that Charlie Rangel is not even a U.S. citizen, considering the reality that anything goes in most any Black community.
Individuals truly worthy of praise are
destroyed, defamed, dishonored.....
...while misfits such as Congressman Charlie Rangel, President Barack "the Magic Negro" Obama, former Congressman William "Thieving"
Jefferson, 2nd District Supervisor Mark 'Lil Napaleon' Ridley Thomas, former Inglewood Mayor Roosevelt Dorn, etc., etc., etc.

“Tawana Brawley racial hoax crime”
Unlike Reverend Al Sharpton and/or others who are not credible....
.......Tavis Smiley has not lost credibility.
......in that be it President Barack Obama, and/or other no good elected Black leaders affiliated with the Democratic Party...

.......Tavis Smiley must know like I and/or others know, that these individuals have yet live up to the essence of what it means to be a competent elected official.

Black politicians always will have trouble trying to follow the law, and playing the race when caught may not always work in your favor.

They say hindsight is 20/20.
Not surprising that many will take this opportunity to disrespect and attempt to discredit the positive things these men have done for the country as well as the communities in which they serve. Some choices may have not been the wisest however, as activists and community figures they are held accountable by the same community in which they serve.
It is interesting how these errors seem to make the front page, CONSISTENTLY, and we have a handful of non-white representatives, however, the majority of similar and some worse incidents are not even reported and often covered up. Yet, the same demand for their jobs do not come up nor the outpouring of them dishonoring their race nor position. Comments are relegated to casual conversation and passed by.
