Karl Rove Admits Bush Failed

Karl Rove on Bush

Finally, a Republican admits that Bush's failure to find "weapons of mass destruction" ruined his credibility.

In his new memoir, 'Courage and Consequences,' Republican strategist Karl Rove says that President George W. Bush's failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq badly damaged the administration's credibility and led to dwindling public support for the war.

And he also blames himself for not pushing back against claims that Bush had taken the country to war under false pretenses, calling it one of the worst mistakes he made during the Bush presidency.

Strangely enough, he argues that history will look favorably on Bush's two-term presidency, particularly in his decision to invade Iraq.

How exactly does he justify this contradiction?

He goes on to say that the 2003 invasion was "the most consequential act of Bush's presidency and a justifiable response to the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks," despite the fact that al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden were supposedly responsible for the attack rather than former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, whom vice president Dick Cheney, Bush, and his national security team linked the attacks to.

Rove had the audacity to call Bush's achievements over two terms "impressive, durable and significant," while calling President Barack Obama a "stereotypical Chicago politician who plays fast and loose with the facts," among other egregious claims.

By far the worst claim he makes, though, is defending Bush's handling of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Rove blames state and local governments for mishandling recovery efforts. Clearly Karl Rove doesn't care about black people either.
