Turns Out ACORN Didn't Get Roasted After All

The one thing I love about neo-cons is the frequency in which they get their panties wound up in a knot, realize they've eaten one too many chili dogs and then wind up constipated. It happened when they thought Sarah Palin actually had a shot at being vice-president; it happened when they tried to prove President Barack Obama was born in Kenya (some still beliieve it); and now it's happening again as they try to attack poor and working class people for trying to do things on their own.

It turns out, the Brooklyn District Attorney's office has found that the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) didn't commit any crimes when two fruitcake conservatives tried to entrap them on video.

These findings come after an investigation, started last September, of a video released by wannabe right wing heroes James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles (pictured above) who posed in really stupid costumes, attempting to pass themselves off as a pimp and hooker. They did this in several ACORN offices across the country and were thrown out of most of them on their ears. Only one appeared to play along with their game.

O'Keefe and Giles released the tape and every Reagan ass-kisser in the country pounced on it, calling ACORN the spawn of Satan and blaming the group for the housing and credit crises. It went all over the news, and FOX dedicated countless hours basically saying that a group who helped poor people find affordable housing was a damnable sin against God (it's supposed to be in Romans or Deuteronomy or some shit like that).

But it turns out the good ol' attorneys in downtown Brooklyn have said that the incompetent advice the ACORN workers gave to the "couple" about lying about income wasn't criminal, just stupid.

Still, the damage O'Keefe and his cohorts wanted to inflict on ACORN has been done. Many organizational offices have disbanded and reorganized under new names. The scandal has cost the group millions in federal funding and forced them to spend what little they do have on damage control.

But in the end, ACORN was vindicated, because conservatives really can't do much more than lie when they want to pick on the have-nots of the country. That doesn't get ACORN out of hot water, but it does provide legal precedent in cases where neo-cons try to advance their political agenda at the expense of a non-profit organization.

Meanwhile, O'Keefe, instead of finally getting a woman, got himself arrested along with three other friends of his for trying to tamper with Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu's office phones -- a federal offense.

Dumb ass.
