Black Leaders Support Gov. Paterson

Black leaders, led by Rev. Al Sharpton, came out to support the embattled New York Gov. David Paterson yesterday. While there were some who felt Paterson should indeed resign for his alleged interference in a domestic violence case and unethical use of gift money, the majority of the leaders believe the governor should be allowed due process, understanding that he is innocent until proven guilty. Many think the support Paterson has received from leaders in the black community has bought the governor time. For his part, Paterson still maintains his innocence but is mum about the particulars of his case due to legalities. [AP]
