Earl Simmons, aka DMX, received a six-month sentence for a 5-count probation violation. He will do time in a Phoenix jail and undergo a mental health evaluation to boot.
Court records indicate that the bad boy rapper used drugs on a regular basis and thereby did not comply with his treatment plan. The sometimes-rapper was placed in cuffs last week, after he admitted to using cocaine which violates his court-ordered probation. Maricopa County Court Commissioner Christine Mulleneaux also slapped DMX with 20 months of probation.
During Tuesday's court hearing, the producers of the hit VH1 TV series "Celebrity Rehab" requested to treat DMX at the Pasadena Recovery Center in California. Court officials however, would have to approve such an offer. Center co-founder Michael Bloom also said that Dr. Drew Pinsky, addiction medicine specialist to the stars, would be involved in DMX's treatment.
Revolving doors to jail has been DMX's reality for quite some time. In 2008, alone, he was taken in to custody four times for various crimes. Once at the top of the music game, the troubled MC appears to keep trying to beat his personal best with his arrest record.
Maybe he should try a new hobby.
