President to Sign Health Care Bill
Today President Barack Obama will hold a signing ceremony in the East Room of the White House for the health care bill. The official signing will make the bill law. Afterward, an even larger celebration is to take place in the Interior Department. The ceremony caps a hard-won victory for both President Obama and Democrats, as the previous months were punctuated with unexpected elections, negative media campaigns, Tea Party demonstrations and contentious town hall meetings. On Thursday, the President will return to Iowa, where he originally announced his health care plan as a presidential candidate, and give a speech that will inform the public about how the new bill will affect families and small businesses.
