President Makes Secret Visit to Afghanistan

On Sunday, President Barack Obama made a surprise visit to Afghanistan -- his first visit to the country as president. The commander-in-chief has ordered an infusion of troops, totaling 100,000, by the summer. In addition to increasing troops, Obama is meeting with Afghan leaders to demand that they clamp down on corruption, deliver basic services to Afghans, provide true rule of law with an effective judicial system, turn away warlords from government positions, and create an effective national police force and army. Obama's administration believes that without these initiatives, the Taliban and al-Qaeda extremists, who are believed to be responsible for many of the terrorist attacks worldwide, will continue to grow.
