It turns out that both LL and country singer Toby Keith were concerned about the fact that the interviews used on the show were shot in the past, but being promoted as if they were brand new. Imagine that - Fox News trying to deceive the public.
"Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else & are misrepresenting to the public in order to promote Sarah Palins Show. WOW," LL Cool J tweeted.
Toby Keith's spokesman had this to say: "We were never contacted by Fox," Keith's spokesman said. "I have no idea what interview it's taken from. They're promoting this like it's a brand new interview."
Fox News is going to cut the footage of LL Cool J from the show, but Toby Keith will still be featured.
"Real American Stories features uplifting tales about overcoming adversity and we believe Mr. Smith's interview fit that criteria," a network spokesperson told TVNewser. "However, as it appears that Mr. Smith does not want to be associated with a program that could serve as an inspiration to others, we are cutting his interview from the special and wish him the best with his fledgling acting career."
I wouldn't say that LL Cool J's acting career is exactly "fledgling." The rapper has been in the acting game for quite a while now, and has done a remarkable job with his transformation. What is most interesting is that LL is not typically the first one to stand up on a political issue, at least not to my knowledge. So, perhaps Sarah Palin is repulsing everyone.

Willie--Congrats on your educational exploits. While I have no intentions on getting a PhD, I am a history teacher. Isn't the culture we all aspire to the middle class culture, and does that see race? I think not...achievement, value of education, patriotism, fulfillment of goals are color blind and remain the foundation of our American way of life. It seems that too many minority leaders de-emphasize these and encourage dependency. Me thinks Beck, Hannity and O'Reilly and Conservative A/A leaders preach the gospel of self sufficiency and independence. And, what is Obama's health care plan but another entitlement program? We, as a people, are entitled to nothing, but what we work to achieve. Move folks (by their own doing) into the middle class, and have them pay their own way--TOUGH LOVE 101.

The culture I aspire to is teaching AFRICAN AMERICANS AS WELL ALL PEOPLE ABOUT life for African Americans as connected to past and present experiences. Doesn't one of your hero's Glenn Beck always talk about the "Founding Fathers." Well what about all those black men that fought to help break this country away from England so the Founding Father could be called Founding Fathers or do you teach your students that? See this is the culture that I aspire to and that's teaching AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY, because it GIVES THE TRUTH as compared to liars such as Hannity, Limbaugh, Beck and this idiot in Houston Michael Berry. Your hero's at fox idealize Ronald Reagan for what I don't know? As more and more African Americans learn THEIR HISTORY, THEY will feel good about themselves and know the truth concerning their people rahter than what you and so many other so called History teachers are teaching. And that will aid them in having unity and getting back to a STRONG BLACK FAMILY.

@Gary, by the way I didn't exploit anything. I earned my way into a Ph. D. program. Not by default, affirmative action or anything else, but hard work and God's grace!

Willie--I hope I didn't insinuate any exploitation, nor did I intend to even suggest affirmative action. My congrats were sincere and heart felt. Our history is chock full of philosophies and behaviors that are contrary to the stated spirit and intent of our nation. Unfortunately, it was what it was. Certainly, we should now be proud of those institutions, but the best we can do is learn from it to avoid repeating it. While we teach it--to perpetuate it is counterproductive. Affirmative action, racially based quotas and excuses tend to suggest that one group is somehow inferior and alienates the majority. We are a melting pot and not a multicultural society. All need to assimilate into the middle class mainstream while maintaining some cultural identity. This includes the value of education and a strong work ethic. As a retired military officer, I have seen it! Responsible minority leaders need to preach the gospel of the forementioned and get off the victim mentality. Again, Conservatism give us the best chance of strengthening our nation. Look forward to your reply. Gary
