Jamar Pinkney Sr. of Michigan was convicted of shooting his 15-year old son, Jamar Pinkney Jr. (pictured above), to death after hearing that the boy molested his 3-year-old daughter. Pinkney was convicted this week of second-degree murder. The shooting took place on November 16, 2009, when Pinkney first shot his son execution-style.

Pinkney's attorney stated that his client was enraged after hearing of the molestation and could not control himself. In response to hearing what his son had done, Pinkney forced him to strip, took him to an empty lot and shot him in the head.

His second-degree murder conviction implies that Pinkney Sr. will be eligible for parole in the future. The father is 37 years old.

I wrote about the Jamar Pinkney incident on Black Voices last year
when it took place. The story was sad, since Pinkney Jr's mother clearly did not want her son to die. There's not much else to say about this except for the fact that it is a terrible situation. While many men can understand a man's desire to protect his daughter, it is difficult to understand how a man could murder his own son.
