White Supremacist Lawyer Found Murdered
White supremacist lawyer Richard Barrett of Pearl, Miss., was found stabbed to death in his home yesterday, after authorities were alerted to smoke coming from Barrett's home. Barrett's body had 35 percent of his body burned by the fire and was said to have been stabbed multiple times in the neck and been hit with a blunt object on the head. Vincent McGee (pictured left), his neighbor, has already been charged with the murder. [NY Times]

FIFA President Hopes Mandela Can Open World Cup
On June 11th, the Soccer World Cup will begin in South Africa. FIFA president Sepp Blatter is hoping that former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela will be in good enough health to open the event. Mandela was last seen in publicly in February and has not had the best of health since. South Africa lost its earlier bid for the World Cup in 2006, so the winning of one of sports most prestigious events is huge for both South Africa and the African continent. Mandela, known as the Father of South Africa, would be a fitting opener of the event. [BBC News]

President to Hold Naturalization Ceremony
Today President Barack Obama will hold a naturalization ceremony, where immigrants become full-fledged citizens and take an Oath of Allegiance to the United States, for active members in the military. He will also present an Outstanding American by Choice Recognition award to an officer. [AP]

Businesses Join with Org. to Combat Malaria
Standard Bank of South Africa; MTN, a cell phone company; and Nando's restaurant, a food chain, are teaming up with United Against Malaria to fight malaria. Standard Bank will provide mosquito nets and treatment for their employees, while MTN will deliver nets to villages. Nando's will sell bracelets to the public and use those profits for both awareness and funds for malaria research. [CBS News]
