Bomb on New Hampshire Bus

Bomb, New Hampshire

What is it with these copycat idiots these days?

On the heels of last weekend's foiled Times Square car-bomb attack, a man riding a Greyhound bus from New Hampshire to New York City forced an evacuation of residents after claiming he had a bomb on the vehicle.

Police in Portsmouth said a bus rider called 911 to report an explosive device, when the bus arrived there. For some reason, the 17 people on the bus remained on board after a state police explosive disposal team arrived on the scene.

The bus started its trip in Maine and was headed to Boston before the final stop in New York.

I understand that the Times Square attempt went way beyond a scare. That was a serious attempt to hurt hundreds of people on one of the busiest streets in America.

Still, it's sad to think that this could become the summer of the bomb scare for those lacking the conviction to harm innocent people but still seeking some measure of notoriety.

All we can hope for is that those who try to follow through on a bomb scare are as inept as Faisal Shahzad and his botched bomb-making attempt.

Maybe these folks live their lives so devoid of attention, accomplishment and positive interaction that they are willing to do anything to simply get people to notice them.

Whether this problem child on the bus had a bomb or not, he was certain of one thing: People are going to notice him. It will be great when they notice him right into a prison cell.

A better example of this "get noticed at any cost" mind-set was on display when a fool ran out on the baseball field during a game in Philadelphia one day after a similarly minded fool was Tasered into brief unconsciousness.

Why can't these people get a life?
