Memphis, Tenn., man was babysitting his girlfriend's toddler when she defecated on the floor. The man reacted to the accident by beating the 2-year-old toddler to death with a basketball shoe.
Calvin Jones, 23, admitted to local authorities that the forms of discipline he used on toddler Saniiyah Kuykendall included smacking her around with the back of his hand, then beating her with a basketball shoe.
When the toddler's 21-year-old mother, Anisha Alford, returned home, the little girl complained of not feeling well and, when touched, felt cold. An eyewitness at the apartment complex where the couple lives told police that at about 11:15 p.m. on the night of the incident, the child was seen spitting and gagging, and that her eyes were rolling toward the back of her head. The person advised the couple to take the child to a nearby hospital emergency room but the suggestion fell on deaf ears.
Instead, the couple went to bed, and when they woke up the next morning, the child was dead. Jones is charged with first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated child abuse. Alford is charged with one count of aggravated child abuse.
There were also two siblings, 4 and 1, in the home at the time. The children were placed with grandparents.
Police records do not indicate whether Alford was aware of the beating.

This truly horrified me. I have 2 year old twin boys and I can't count the number of times they have taken off their diapers and went on the floor, but I have never even thought about beating them so much that they died...Give your kids a hug and tell them how much you love them....smdh....

Oh, you wouldn't think of beating them to death but implying you would beat them at all is horrid. Beating a 2 yr old for any reason is wrong.

Why, why, why do these stupid, desperate females continue to leave their babies with their boyfriends? How many more times do we have to hear this sad, sick story? When will women understand, if that's not his baby, he will not have the patience and understanding to deal with your child? It's not a difficult concept, yet innocent children continue to be killed in this manner. It's sickening and heartbreaking.

I agreed with you until you mentioned the men not having patience if the kid is not his....Do you read the newspapers and other headlines the feature stores where a childs biological father has killed or harmed the child? so its not just stepdad or mommies boyfriend, its men in general and women too...That testosterone is not joke...I never left my now grwon children with their dad....
So sad!!! wakeup women and stay your azzez home with your children!!!

I was with you too....up until that comment about a man not taking care of a child that is not his. My daughter's father walked way when she was two, my now husband came into our lives when she was six and we married by the time she was eight....that was 18yrs ago, he is her father! If you say differently, you may catch a case!
So please don't categorize all 'non-biological' fathers in this negative light. I have a feeling that this "alledged" man, would have done this to his own child.
The kids should be taken away, the "alledged" man charged w/ manslaughter and the woman as an accomplice after the fact. Either way it goes, they will both get a beatdown in prison.
I pray for the protection and the lives of the other children.

I totally agree with you lasha. Not discounting good and real men that would never think of harming a child, I think your comment speaks to the fact that until you "know" the mans caracture to know he's non-violent, it's imperative that these single moms realize that it's not easy for someone to have the same love and nurturing for someones elses child. I realize that bio-moms and dads have been guilty of this horrible crime also, but how much more so that we should be weary of someone who isn't the childs natural parent. My friends grandchild was murdered by her daughters "boyfriend" just 2 months ago. How devestating.

My husband has an ex-stepson that still calls him Dad. He has known him since he was 9 months. He's 13 years old now and coming to spend the summer with us, along with his sister (my husband bio-daughter). Shame on you for saying that men dont care about non-biological children. The worst cases I have every heard in child abuse were commited by biological parents.

so sad so sad, Sometimes you cannot even leave them with the biological daddy. This is a tragedy, and the poor child is better off with God, than having to live with a potential lifetime of abuse. Poor babies..May God help them.

I couldn't agree more with you lasha, and sometimes even when it is their own children, they lack maturity and patience not to mention the fact that a 2 year old does not yet, understand the concept of toilet training and will defecate sometimes on the floor, due to the discomfort of a diaper! These dudes lack tolerance and patience, and will discipline a little child who lacks understanding! What the hell is wrong with these stupid, ignorant desperate females laying up with any type of thug and allowing these despicable excuses of a human being abuse and murder their innocent children????
They stand by and watch these tragedys unfold and most times they are just as abusive as the boyfriend!! This women, knew that the baby was sick, yet she went to bed?? Why didn't she take the baby to the nearest hospital?? How irresponsible is this so called mother? They continue to stay with these pathetic men! WHY?? Ladies! Go out and get an education! Why have babies with two, three and foud men?? When does the madness stop???
