Update: ABC News is reporting that Coleman has slipped into a coma and is on life support. Coleman may have suffered an intracranial hemorrhage after a fall on Wednesday. In addittion, Coleman had heart surgery last fall that was complicated by pneumonia, his lawyer said, according to ABC News.
"Gary was taken to the hospital with a serious medical problem yesterday, we are asking for everyone's prayers at this time. We hope those prayers are answered and that Gary will be able to recover and return home soon," Coleman's wife Shannon Price said in a statement to a local television station.
Child star Gary Coleman is in critical condition in a Utah hospital.
A spokeswoman for Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo confirmed to CNN that Coleman, 42, is being treated there.
Coleman is best known for his role as Arnold Drummond on the sitcom 'Diff'rent Strokes.'
His stardom on the show led to appearances in several movies and commercials, but life has been difficult for Coleman since. Most of the years following the show have been tabloid fodder.
He sued his parents for spending most of the fortune he earned as a child actor. He also has suffered for years with kidney problems. Coleman has had two kidey transplants.
More recently, Coleman has had several run-ins with the law. In January, he was arrested on a domestic violence warrant. He eventually pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor criminal mischief charge. Coleman also recently blew up on the set of 'The Insider' when one of the hosts went at him over his treatment of wife Shannon Price (pictured above).
The host was purposefully being a jerk and trying to goad the actor, but Coleman looked terrible as he yelled and cursed at the woman before storming off the set.
Also in January, he was rushed to the hospital after suffering a seizure. BV will keep you updated on his condition.

His attitude has nothing to with his sickness so you are wrong for putting god into that> I feel god is watching over all of us no matter if were are beautiful or ugly so watch what you say about others because you can fall short of the glory too.

I just want to say that I wish the best for Mr. Coleman. He has been through alot in his life especially dealing with his sickness and his parents taking advantage of him as a child. I believe Mr. Coleman has acted out alot in the past due to his sickness. People are so quick to judge and come down on people. It's the grace of God that keeps us daily. We could be in Mr. Coleman's shoes. So I pray that he will find peace and get things together with God whatever the future has in store for him.

Considering the tests that life has imposed on Mr. Coleman, I'ts a wonder he's even alive, let alone sane. He's seen and endured too much to be such a young man. On the list of trials and tribulations, I'd put him about one tier below the biblical icon, Job. Instead of concentrating on the negative aspects of all said and implied, I'll instead, always remember the many hours, months and years of wonderful entertainment he bestowed upon the world.
