I admit that I was taken aback by the attacks of Fox News host Glenn Beck against President Barack Obama's daughter Malia. I normally pay very little attention to Beck, which is a policy of mine that isn't going to change anytime soon. To see a 46-year-old man, though, go after an 11-year-old girl on national television concerned me a great deal. I wondered if there was no low that Beck and his colleagues would be willing to stoop to in order to attack the president, and whether his Fox News fan base and corporate sponsors would cheer him on as he verbally assaults the intelligence of a child.
During a segment of his show, Beck spent time making fun of the question Malia posed to her father about the recent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. For several minutes, Beck mocked her with a whiny voice and even accused the Obama family of having uneducated children.
Beck's apology was even weaker than his verbal assault on Malia Obama. On his Web site, he issued this statement:
"In discussing how President Obama uses children to shield himself from criticism, I broke my own rule about leaving kids out of political debates. The children of public figures should be left on the sidelines. It was a stupid mistake and I apologize -- and as a Dad I should have known better."
Translation: "I am not taking very much responsibility for my behavior, which is why the statement is so short. The president is to blame for all this because he used his daughter to protect himself. This is not something I would normally do, because I really am a decent guy. You can tell I'm decent because I have kids of my own. Oh, by the way, I'm sorry."
Beck and Fox News should be ashamed of this behavior. Beck, by attacking a child in this way, is proving to the world that he has nothing intelligent or meaningful to add to public debates and is simply a political comedian with a large platform. A more sincere apology should have come from Fox News itself, while simultaneously applauding the Obama family for raising intelligent and productive children. The idea that Malia, at the tender age of 11, has the compassion to ask her father about oil spills and other meaningful political events, implies that this child is special, considerate and as brilliant as her parents. She is certainly more intelligent, informed and compassionate than Beck himself.
Any corporation that makes money or sells products in the name of Glenn Beck and his television and radio shows should ask themselves if they want to be associated with someone who feels it necessary to attack innocent children. Beck went entirely too far, and I am sure that even his buddy Bill O'Reilly won't back him on this one.

Why don't you read the book, Black and White in America, Setting the Record Straight, by Dave Barton. He appeared on Glenn Beck's program and the book was fully endorsed by Mr. Beck. If you do choose to watch his program, you will learn that he reveres many black historical figures. He simply wants to respect the constitution and ensure that our true history is taught and learned. The democrats started the Ku Klux Klan, and three white communists founded the NAACP. Not one democrat voted for the 14th and 15 ammendment, and Senator Byrd fillibustered the Civil Rights Bill, and more Repblicans than Democrats voted for the Civil Rights Bill (and Al Gore's father voted against it!) Just a little info brought out by Mr. Beck. Look it up!

I admit Beck made a grave mistake...however, I must also admit that the Obama's should teach Malia how to STOP walking like a hockey player. Goodness...it is an embarassement.
Not blaming the kid, but how about her mommy?

and Rick Sanchez got fired for telling CNN that they were bigots and John Stewart was and is a bigot. Yes racism is very much alive and well as sick as it may be it is so out there. I wish they all would wake up and see we are not going anywhere we were born in this world put here by the same God that will judge hem just like the white racist people judge us as a whole. I am not surprised at all yes it is a shame but what do you do about this one and the last one and the ones to follow. I will still live breathe and work and care for my family in the same air you take in. I really will pray for our people to be protected from people like Beck and the rest of them who wear sheets at night and burn a cross in their next door neighbors yard. You are uneducated and you have a tv show and can get on the radio and act like an ass and call your self apologize about picking on a child and claim to have kids you shol be ashamed of yourself but you aren't it is still a joke for you aand the men who were there with you and the people who allow you to still come to work. I use to love wtching CNN I love to be informed but I have to make a decision now will I be tuning in to the station anymore well I don't think I will it is bad for my people just like smoking is bad for all people, you stink up the air waves just like smoke. I hope and pray God will swiftly kick your rump and all the unintelligent people who choose to back you. Shame shame shame on you.

This man is beyond reprehensible. Is he out to prove he is in dire need of intense psychiatric help? How dare he target a child, but then it goes to say alot about the man himself. yes American this is a representative of the republican party...any question ?
