Snoop Dogg Granted Visa to Visit U.K.

Oh-so-cool rapper extraordinaire Snoop Dogg is finally allowed to visit the U.K. after being banned for nearly four years.

The Boss Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, was not allowed to place foot on British soil after members of his entourage created a pre-flight fracas back at a London airport in 2006, when Snoop and his entourage were denied entry in to a first-class lounge at London's famed Heathrow Airport.

Airport officials claimed that Snoop and his cohorts were rude and abusive to staff. When police arrived on the scene, Snoop and his companions allegedly scuffled with officers. Seven officers were injured, and Snoop, along with six others in his group, were arrested. In further retaliation against the rapper, immigration officials placed a ban on the entertainer's visa.

Snoop has made several pleas in the past, requesting that his visa ban be lifted so that he might be allowed to tour the U.K. His requests for reinstatement were flatly refused, until now.

The approval comes just in the nick of time. Snoop is scheduled to perform at the world-famous Glastonbury Festival, in southwest England. He is also due to appear at a concert in London's Hyde Park and a charity event in Manchester. If Snoop's visa was not approved, he would have lost well over $500,000 in earnings.

"This is a major coup for the renewal of his relationship with the British immigration authorities and justifies the approach he has taken over the last three years to clear his name and reputation," Snoop's lawyer Philip Trott told the Wall Street Journal.
