If you think that Sarah Palin and her Tea Party followers only endorse white Republican wing nut wackjobs, you're wrong. Sometimes she endorses black Republican wing nut wackjobs. Introducing Star Parker. Parker is running for Congress in California and recently gained the endorsement of America's favorite clueless former vice presidential candidate.
Parker is challenging Rep. Laura Richardson (D-Calif.), an incumbent and member of the Congressional Black Caucus, in a district where the demographics have shifted away from the traditional CBC constituency over the last decade.
California's 37th Congressional District encompasses Long Beach, Signal Hill, Carson, Compton and parts of Los Angeles. The district is highly diverse ethnically, with almost half its residents being of Hispanic decent and a quarter African American.
Parker is a policy analyst and former welfare recipient who, after what she calls a "Christian conversion," completed college and turned her life around.
She worked on welfare reform in the mid-'90s, afterward founding the organization CURE, the Center for Urban Renewal and Education, a policy think tank that promotes market-based solutions to fight poverty.
As a social policy consultant, Parker gives regular testimony before the United States Congress and is a regular commentator on CNN, CNBC, CBN, FOX News and the United Kingdom's BBC.
In addition to being a syndicated columnist for Scripps Howard News Service, she is also an author and has penned three books: 'Uncle Sam's Plantation,' 'White Ghetto: How Middle Class America Reflects Inner City Decay'and 'Pimps, Whores & Welfare Brats.' (Come again?)
So what about Parker, a Californian ex-welfare queen, who drew the attention and support of Sarah Palin? The answer: They're both nuts. Seriously.
Check out some of Parker's policy positions:
On Same-Sex Marriage:
"According to DC's HIV/AIDS office, three percent of the local population has HIV or AIDS. The Administrator of this office notes that this HIV/AIDS incidence is higher than West Africa...And the principal way that HIV is transmitted continues to be through male homosexual activity.
Amidst this dismal picture, the DC City Council, perhaps on the theory that serving up another glass of wine is the way to help a drunk, is scheduled to vote on December 1 to legalize same sex marriage in America's capital city ... It should concern every American as we watch our nation's capital city transform officially into Sodom."
On Welfare:
"The threat to our country from those who now control our government is extraordinary. They are bringing to our entire nation the welfare state that has destroyed our low- income communities.
Our nation is deeply divided and we are at a crossroads. As Abraham Lincoln once said, "A nation divided against itself cannot stand." We must decide who we are. Are we going to be a free nation under God or a social welfare state?"
On The Role of Government:
"I will work tirelessly to restore a great, prosperous, and free America that provides opportunity for every citizen of every background and economic status; a nation where we understand again that the role of government is to protect individual interests and pursuits, not to exploit or plunder them and a nation of free people that is served by its government not controlled by it. We need representatives in Washington who will fight uncompromisingly and consistently to restore traditional values, limited government, free markets and a strong national defense."
In support of Parker, Sarah Palin says, "Star has an incredible story and a passionate commitment to her community and our great nation. Rising up from being a single mom on welfare, Star worked hard to build a non-profit network that seeks to reduce poverty and create a brighter future for America by promoting free market solutions and personal responsibility...she will bring a new level of enthusiasm and energy to Washington for American values, limited government, and economic growth. Please join me in supporting Star and her message of hope, opportunity, and self-reliance."
Will Palin secure a victory for Parker or will Palin's endorsement prove to be an albatross for Parker? Although she's a rising star in the Republican party, ultimately, Parker's fate will be determined by the voters of California.
And to those voters Parker says this: "If you are in the 37th Congressional District I am asking for your vote on November 2. If you do not live in the district, you are not able to vote for me, but in the Congress, I will vote for you because I will vote for freedom. I promise you that I will consistently vote for freedom so help me God."
Is it just me, or is anyone else scared? God Bless America.

I applaud Ms.Parker for her courage to speak out and state what she believes, I applaud the founding fathers for establishing the constitution and our right to freedom of speech. Also applaud all of the 'supporters' and 'opposition' of Ms. Parker who are exercising their right to freedom of speech. The people in the 37th congressional district will decide who will represent them in the House of Representatives Nov.2nd. The founding fathers knew what they were doing when they established our form of governing, Ms.Parker's views will be received, debated, and decided upon by the "other" members of the congress. This holds true for the liberals, conservatives and moderates in our national legislature. Name calling is counter-productive when deciding public-policy that will impact everyone in this country. As adults we must be vigilant in our "outward" behavior because what example do we leave our children to emulate when it comes time for them to solve differences in opinion, etc. I believe that our moral, religious belief is better represented by "how" we behave rather than "what" we say. "..it is better to be a doer of the word than just a hearer of it.."
