The Center for Science in the Public Interest (aka CSPI aka America's Fat Police) are threatening to sue McDonald's, the nation's largest burger maker, over the toys it includes in its Happy Meals for children.
I would hope that any judge worth his pressed robes would take any suit proposed by the CSPI and put it right in the garbage where it belongs.
I understand that America's kids are too fat and fewer McDonald's -- as opposed to more -- would probably be a good thing for most; however, how can one group attack toys?
I mean, don't parents have some responsibility to monitor what their kids eat? I know teens at school will eat whatever they want and parents are often helpless to stop them.
If a child is young enough to beg, whine and cajole a parent in to buying a Happy Meal, though, shouldn't that parent have enough spine to tell little Junior no?
I think the CSPI's heart is in the right place. Yes, it would be great to reduce the fat and calories consumed by children. Banning toys from meals, though, shows that the CSPI's heads are out to a low-calorie lunch on this one.
Let Mickey Ds serve Happy Meals, and let parents act like parents.

The group is threatening to sue Mickey Ds in 30 days, because the marketing of their Happy Meals to children is, well, too successful: According to CSPI, McDonald's marketing turns American children into an "unpaid drone army, causing them to nag their parents to bring them to McDonald's."
The CSPI was emboldened by the action of California's Santa Clara County, which voted earlier this year to ban restaurants from giving away toys and other items that come with high-calorie meals for children.

At what point is it the parents responsibility to say NO??? What a ridiculous law suit. McDonald's marketed to my generation with that scary ass clown, but when my mom didn't want us to have that crap she said NO, and we better not start nagging her about it. This spoiled, entitled generation can use training in not getting everything they want.

At some point people are going to HAVE to accept some responsibility for the choices they make. Happy Meals don't jump out of McDonald's and attack children and make the children eat them. Parents go to the restaurant and BUY the Happy Meals for their kids. Yes, a lot of fast food places use cartoon characters images and toys to attract kids to their menus. Has anybody watched Nick or Cartoon Network? They are loaded with commercials of all sorts trying to get the kids to beg and whine for stuff they don't really want or need. My kids would be included in that group. But you know what; I say no a lot. I explain why I say no, but I still say no. It is the parents responsibility to guide their children and teach them healthy habits. There are far more serious matters for courts to consider than frivolous lawsuits that have no merit whatsoever.

Give me a break--I think they need to quit sticking there noses into everyone else's business. If parents don't want there children to eat this food then they will not take them to MCDONALDS. Besides if the toys go away I WILL STILL BUY MY CHILDREN--BURGER-FRIES and DRINK. Still same calories. TOY OR NO TOY just as long as they eat what they like.
Hey MCDONALDS here's what you can do-CHARGED 1 Penny for the toy then the parents are buying the toy and you are not giving it away FREE. If they don't want to pay the 1 Penny for it then they are the ones who have to listen to there kids.
