White Supremecist Who Plotted to Kill Obama Wants Nazi Tatoos Removed Before Going to Prison

This is a perfect example of the wisdom of looking before you leap.

Daniel Cowart, the white supremacist convicted of plotting to murder President Obama when he was still a candidate, has asked a federal court to alter his two Nazi tattoos before he is sent to prison.

I'm thinking that he should have thought twice before having permanent Nazi symbols tattooed prominently on his body.

Cowart, 21, along with another man, was arrested in 2008 and charged with planning to murder more than 100 black people in a multi-state killing and robbery spree that would culminate with Obama's assassination. This plot spoke to some of the fears that African Americans had about Obama's safety.

Cowart pleaded guilty and faces 12 to 18 years in prison when he is sentenced in August.

He has since been kicked out of the Supreme White Alliance, which said he was only a probationary member. Who'd have thought that becoming a hateful Nazi was a multi-step process?

That means the swastika on Cowart's right shoulder and the iron cross on the left side of his chest may cause him some problems in prison. He'll not only have to contend with his former brethren, but he also will have to face the rest of the prison population without protection.

Good luck with that.

The government does not want to transport Cowart to a tattoo shop.

"The Marshals Service is wary of setting a precedent whereby they are obligated to devote substantial resources to transporting and escorting inmates between facilities for the purposes of voluntary cosmetic surgery," said the government response to his request.

Taxpayers should not be responsible for this young man's idiotic decision to put permanent symbols of hatred and death upon his body. Cowart's request is especially ridiculous if he made no mention of renouncing his hatred of blacks and Jews. Cowart's court filing was sealed.

However, most prisons have protective custody, and Cowart should be shipped there if he fears for his life. Tattoos are taken into consideration before a prisoner is placed. Despite his reckless regard for life, the U.S. government will still take pains to protect his. And that's the way it should be.

However, this should be a lesson for all the wanna-be gangsters getting teardrop tats and the fake Hitlers putting swastikas on their chests. These permanent symbols brand you for life. Just think, the person you are at 18 or 21 may not be the person you want to be at 25 or 30.

Now that he's headed to serve a dangerous prison sentence where his life will be in jeopardy, I wonder if Cowart thinks his hate was worth it?
