Ice-T Arrested In New York City

Gangsta-rapper-turned-actor Ice-T was reportedly pulled over by New York City police officers early on Tuesday for driving without a seat belt. New York's finest then proceeded to arrest the 52-year-old for operating a motor vehicle without a license.

According to TMZ, Ice-T, whose real name is Tracy Morrow, was handcuffed, taken to the 10th precinct in the Chelsea area of lower Manhattan, processed and then released.

This morning, Ice-T tweeted he was taking his bulldog to the vet to get knee surgery:

Up early.. @cutespartacus has to get knee surgery today.. It's a simple operation that common for bulldogs. Still sucks. Wish him luck...

The entertainer, who has had a controversial career as a rapper, released the 1992 hit "Cop Killer," when he was the lead member of the group Body Count. The lyrics, which he wrote, tell the tale of someone who is outraged about police brutality and makes the decision to take the law in to his own hands by killing police officers. The song evoked a heap of controversy from the highest offices in the land: former President George H.W. Bush, Vice President Dan Quayle and Second Lady of the U.S. Tipper Gore.

Ice-T is currently known for his portrayal of tough guy NYPD Detective "Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola" on the NBC-TV drama "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."
