Glenn Beck's vitriolic language and over-the-top attacks on various groups that he deems as deviant, communist or plotters to overthrow the American way of life, may have almost turned deadly. For who knows what reason, Beck has targeted a relatively obscure, left-leaning organization called the "Tides Foundation." The group, on its website, says that its mission is "to partner with philanthropists, foundations, activists and organizations across the country and across the globe to promote economic justice, robust democratic processes and the opportunity to live in a healthy and sustainable environment, where human rights are preserved and protected."
According to MediaMatters, the Tides Foundation was mentioned on Fox News 31 times, 29 of them by Beck. The other two were by Sean Hannity. Beck called the group thugs who indoctrinate schoolchildren on his July 14 show.
On July 18, police pulled over a two-strike felon named Byron Williams (pictured). He was allegedly wearing body armor and had an extensive amount of ammunition in his car. He allegedly opened fire on the California Highway Police, and more than 60 rounds were exchanged.
Where was Williams headed? According to Oakland police, Williams, 45, said "his intention was to start a revolution by traveling to San Francisco and killing people of importance at the Tides Foundation and the ACLU."
Williams' mother said that he was angry at left-leaning politicians, watched a lot of television and was angry at "what's happening to our country," especially "the way Congress was railroading through all these left-wing agenda items."
This should be a wake-up call for all of the people who think Beck's rhetoric is a joke. It is potentially fatal. Words have the power to spark people into action. And when Beck's paranoid rhetoric reaches mentally unstable people down on their luck, this is what happens.
Eric Bohlert, a senior fellow at MediaMatters, described some of the language Beck and his colleagues use:
And don't forget about the unhinged response when health care reform was passed in March: "Get down on your knees and pray. Pray. It's September 11th all over again, except that we didn't have the collapsing buildings." After financial reform passed last week, Beck told his audience, "Your republic is over."
Meanwhile, Andrew Breitbart's website recently tagged Obama as the "suicide-bomber-in-chief," while the conservative Washington Times just last week published an op-ed -- by a former congressman, no less -- asserting the president poses more of a threat to America than al Qaeda.
I wonder what Beck would have said if Williams succeeded with his plan and innocent people were murdered because of their political leanings."On occasion, the shadow of violence falls on American civic life and it should never be accepted or tolerated. Often, it is encouraged by partisan voices who label activities of which they disapprove by suggesting they are "anti-American" or some other epithet," Tides CEO Drummond Pike said in a statement.
"This incident serves to remind us that it should be the obligation of every American, especially those whose voices are amplified by the media, to foster civil discourse and dialogue among those who may disagree about public matters. One does not win an argument by inciting unbalanced people to violence. As Americans, we know we are best at solving problems when we reach broadly across boundaries for the best of ideas. Intolerance that closes our eyes defeats our aspirations."
The sad part is that commentators like Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly spew this potentially fatal rhetoric for money. They've gotten rich by spreading fear, lies and paranoia of the type seen in the Shirley Sherrod and New Black Panther Party cases. As Professor Michael Eric Dyson said, the Far Right is using the fact that we have a black president to stir already existent racial paranoia.
Corporate entities need to be held responsible for allowing this dangerous rhetoric that is not based on fact in the air.
The irony of it all is that Williams' mother said her son was upset after he got out of prison, because of the amount of unemployment he was receiving and that he couldn't find work as a cabinet maker because of his criminal record.
The ACLU and Tides foundation probably did more to improve those issues yesterday than someone like Beck has done in his entire life.

[Have you passed this knowledge on to the feminist women's groups? They seem to celebrate female on male violence, including falsely accusing men of crimes.

I agree 100%, unfortunately networks like fox prey on the intellectually challenged. Individuals who are most vulnerable are the people who take logic absent arguments as gospel. I don't have statistics, but I'm willing to bet that the main supporters of Beck and Limbaugh are socio-economically at the bottom of society. They cling on to their words when they have no stability in their own lives. Unfortunately, ignorance breeds violence and the networks don't care as long as ratings are strong. I hope America wakes up.

I am not at the bottom of the ladder economically and I am not illiterate. I am a seeker of truth where ever I can find it. So far, I do not find it on the left at least as far how they talk about people with different ideas. I find less of it in too many official black leadership circles. I find a great deal of demonizing there. I find nearly none in white leadership circles. Why is that?

We dont need Glenn Beck to tell us which way the political winds blow. Youd have to be pretty stupid not to see whats going on, either that or a complete useful idiot. The truth is out there on the Tides Foundation...and the dots are EASILY CONNECTED...! Sure, They want Beck silenced...Hes exposing them...no vitriol there unless you consider the truth harmful.

NOTE:
Kevin Beck is a product of what happens when the mind begins experiencing age related effects of Neurological Breakdowns that can lead to Paranoia, Dementia, Schizophrenia and other syptoms.
(Increasingly poor cellular repairs and/or replenishments)
SCIENCE FACTS:
Because Melanin also acts as a free radical scavenger, it`s scientifically verified that this beneficial consequence of melanin is also why blacks look younger longer and ages more gracefully than whites with all things being equal.
Therefore although the effects and symptoms of aging upon WHITES are more accelerated by comparison for BLACKS, the daily bombardments of these free radicals also plays a role as it passes through whites MORE than it does through blacks and just as well does `MORE` cellular damages throughout their entire white anatomy than it does in the black`s anatomy, as melanin can actually absorb forms radiation.
(or scavenges free radicals, which then results in lesser cellular damages to the anatomy of blacks than by comparison to whites and has been known within the science community for decades while more quieted on mainstream.)
However the noticeability of the effects is proportional to ones susceptibility to free radical damages.
SUMMARY (of Beck and his Ilk):
With these indisputable and known scientifically verifiable facts, it becomes realized that ones position(s) and/or status(s) acquired during a time when ones mental state was more sounds, becomes later sustained and/or survived by (or Respected there to because of) past credentials acquired prior to mental breakdowns, even while observing individual themselves to be increasingly declining in their mental stabilities, capabilities and more that contradict their responsibilities.
Unfortunately, as their mind retards further and their perceptions of reality and/or common sense becomes more vividly fogged, so then retards within them/(their heads) whatever information, skills, knowledge and more of what they may have acquired back when they a lot saner.
It is from these mental breakdowns that causes one to question deeds that are deemed foolishly unthinkable (AIDS, Tuskegee experiments and more from racist scientists gone mad), and/or the intellectually halfhearted, being shown form those who were otherwise more honored and respected to the contrary.
But these labels are from social constructs from a given society, rather than from the ignored nature (of the beast) within.
FORUM TOPIC: (message within)
After following this story according to the way it was reported, there reveals within it, comes key issues that were unwittingly confessed.
As we may recall a few months ago a particular case of a young black man, while in police custody laying faced down with hands cuffed behind his back, gets killed when a police officer stood up and shot him `IN` the back, in broad daylight and in view of other blacks who watched while some recorded the incident on their cell phones.
That incident follows with a report that the police meant to grab his Taser.
(The shooting officer was not under attack or being `rushed-upon` by the black arrestee who laid face down in handcuffs with two other officers detaining him without resistance.) per as seen on tape.
Mesmerizing that repeated usages of the old `Meant to grab the Taser` line, seems to work best on blacks than anyone else of any other race whether the same of worse of circumstance.
Other incident (also this year) of a Black man, after a highway pursuit by the police in his vehicle, finally comes to a stop after pulling off to the right side of the road and is met with a hail of bullets where he then dies at the steering wheel.
These are just a few of the backlog of incidents documenting police excessive force upon blacks in a non physically threatening situation than anyone else of any other race whether engaged in the same or much worse situation.
The leading report of this forum has supported this longstanding evidence, unwittingly, as the man above is not only stopped while on a mission (heavily armed) to commit mass murder, but according to this report, he gets into a `60 rounds` gun battle with the police.
End the end? `He`s Taken into police custody, ALIVE!`
AS unarmed blacks lay in graves because the police `THOUGHT` their lives were in danger, yet this man lives `FOLLOWING` his clear convincing attempt (discharges his firearm `AT` the police) to take police lives.
But this man `IS` the living excuse that are often used to justify police killings of blacks!
Are Whites in gun battles with the police more likely to live than unarmed blacks DURING AN ARREST?
Granted they took him in custody, alive, that part is HIS business, not ours.
The concerns here is about blacks getting more harshly treated by the police than other race for the same or mote worse situation.
And unsurprisingly, this friction seems to be between white males and black men AND WITH NO ONE ELSE IN THE WORLD!
Much of the reports that occur between the police and blacks (black men in particular) have a common point of reference that seems willfully (or systemically) ignored.
Those particular white males while in police attire hiding under the cloak of the protective system and the powers of the state awarded and entrusted to the policemen, are demonstrating fundamental racisms so noted in their handlings of race members they approach. This class of racist white males are also being selectively and quietly solicited into police academy through which they`re provided access to virtually endless arsenals at their disposal and personal storages (firearms, ammunitions, vehicles and more).
They`ve found and covertly using a systemic loophole that gives them a venting outlet for their racial hatred against blacks. (Black men in particular).
All while blacks are thinking in terms of love, peace, harmony, `getting along` and more.
We know all whites aren`t this way, but the perpe`traitors` are slithering among the more socially evolved whites, for all the wrong reasons.
But in time, they'll be self subdued.
Physiologically from the inside out.

Geez, I wonderful how conservative the writer is who wrote this piece of biased BS? Beck points out on his program what the shady government is all about, including the backgrounds of just about everyone Obama has included in his regime. Beck also supports his information and advises listeners to research it. I have, and his facts are right on. My guess is that the guy who wrote this story has never taken the time to do so. No, typical of the leftist media, he blames Beck for one outraged citizen who alledgedly planned an attack somewhere in Pelosi-represented San Francisco. I'm a retired journalist and maybe I'll do a piece on how this guy was enraged by Pelosi. Come on, AOL, you can do better than running garbage like this.
