President Barack Obama will be bringing good news to the American people this month: the end of U.S. fighting in Iraq.
And it won't come soon enough.
Though a force of 50,000 soldiers will remain in Iraq for now, all troops are scheduled to leave by the end of the year.
But while the troop pullout is to be celebrated, the ongoing violence that rocks Iraq on a daily basis underscores how huge of a mistake this entire war effort was from the beginning.
What exactly was accomplished by this fighting? Beyond the senseless waste of life, money and focus, nothing comes to mind.
Obama has said he will divert much of the Iraqi combat operation to the fighting in Afghanistan, where the president said, "We're focused on goals that are clear and achievable."
The president must see something that I and a majority of Americans don't. While the war in Afghanistan originally had a more reasonable goal -- crushing al-Qaeda after the World Trade Center attacks -- that goal now seems muddled.
It seems to be getting more and more difficult to tell who the bad guys are and who is on our side.
Obama deserves kudos for cleaning up the mess left by the former president, but let's hope he isn't wearing the same set of blinders in Afghanistan that George W. Bush was wearing when, against all logic and reason, he started the Iraq nightmare.

I am a supporter of Operation Rebuild Iraq.We won the war we deserve to pay war reparations. But, with offshore drilling, the oil wars will cool down in the Middle East. The Hawaiian Islands, the Marshall Islands and a new coalition of Americans will shift the focus from the Middle East to the Gulf shores.

I THOUGHT OBAMA PROMISED THAT HE WOULD END THE WAR WHEN HE WAS CAMPAIGNING IN 2007-2008.

Obama has led our nation into billions of dollars of debt in less than 2 years. More servicemen were killed in July 2010 under Obama's leadership than any other month, including Bush's terms.

Do any of you remember the promises Obama made during his campaign? We ALL want/wanted the war to end. Obama said it would under his leadership.
July 2010...MORE SERVICE MEN/WOMEN DIED/KILLED in the war than during any other month, including under Bush's terms.
Who posted this? Do you read reports? Have you educated yourself with Obama's campaign promise of ending the war? He has escalated the war. His brilliant idea of making friends of the Muslim's has backfired. They are animals.
IMMIGRATION: Do any of you realize that right now approximately 12% of the U.S. population is black? With that said, by 2042, Hispanics will be the MAJORITY with caucasians and blacks the MINORITY.
The U.S. was built on the backs of blacks and caucasians (slavery was not everywhere...) Our children and grandchildren will be the MINORITY in a nation run into the ground and similar to Mexico.
