Black Tea Party members are defending the group from criticism that it is racist, but actions speak louder than words.
Gathered at a Washington, D.C., press conference, black members of the group said that recent events, such as a racist letter written by one Tea Party Express leader and racist billboards, had come from "outsiders who infiltrated the groups to discredit their work and it should be rejected," the AP writes.
"These people do not oppose Barack Obama because of his skin color. They oppose him because of his policies," said Lloyd Marcus, a spokesman for the group.
The Tea Party lost all credibility, though, with its rants about the Democrats, Obama and comparing politics to slavery:
"Democrats have re-enslaved America," said Kevin Jackson, president of the Black Conservative Coalition. Jackson added that the Tea Party movement would initiate another Emancipation Proclamation by reducing the size of government:
"This time, even the white folks get freed."
"Destroy America. That's what the D in Democrat Party means," said Conservative Moms for America leader Mary Baker. Baker also said Democrats were pushing "anti-God politics."
Alan Keyes, who ran against Obama for the U.S. Senate in 2004, said that the president "got elected on a virulent form of racism" and exploited his race for political gain.
I'm not sure what presidential election Keys saw, but I remember Obama's race being a constant liability.
The Tea Party has also distinguished itself by calling Democrats "white supremacists" and "elitists."
I don't even have to condemn these folks. I'll just let their words speak for themselves. Tea Party members of all races have shown that it might be a bit of a stretch to take them seriously.
They question Obama's citizenship, despite indisputable proof. They criticize the help government provides to its citizens, such as unemployment and social security, and then partake of those same benefits.
At Tea Party events around the country, you see blatantly racist signs and read about racist comments from participants.

Black Tea Party leaders defending the party because they don't feel the Tea Party in itself is racist, to me, is a RED FLAG. Now why not the white leaders: (Michelle Machman, Sarah Palin, Rand Paul and many others) campain to defend or take accountablity for their racist views, billboards, signs, and slogans? Why now the Black members and not the White ones? Simple, the White leaders know they are under heavy scrunity for their agendas and the further they reframe from what is racially motivating them, the less likely someone will find a need to pull out the truth and comfront their political careers with it. Michelle Machman, Sarah Palin and Rand Paul say "the party is not here to promote racism nor they themselves are not racist" because they know the ugly consequences of being labelled a racist. The Black Tea Party members don't have the racist cloud over them, so all they have to do is compromise and justify to make the Tea Party appear to run on some real principal. If there was no fear of scruntiy, they would not need Black members to speak for them to begin with.
Because there are no racist tea party members...just because we don't like Obama's policy's, doesn't mean we are racist...don't believe the lies and have a knee jerk reaction with no basis...
Kwamee, it's simple. These same Black folk that claim to have an issue with the POTUS are the same black folk who stear clear of the front lines when it's time to combat drugs and gangs in the community.I'm somewhat shocked at the existance of a Black Tea party. Sarah Palin and her cronies probably laugh at them in their face but they are tap dancing with that watermelon grin so they don't see how destructive their choice of party is. If they were Independent, that would be fine because they can make their own decissions ad not rely on a idiot like Palin to spoon feed them. I chose to be Indi because yes Democrats aren't always on the money but I will NEVER give my vote to a Republican. I wander if Becky know the Tea Party platform or the Republican pltform? So far I havn't heard a Republican plan for th Housing crises, Jobs crises, nor the economy. It's easy for them to point fingers then to provide a plan.
So the difference between Black Conservative Coalition and those dim wits in L.A. who side with the Minutemen is what? Next, you'll be seeing one of them kissing the ring of tea party leaders. Seriously, do these people not own a television, have they never read a newspaper or just looked around? Any party where Rush Limbaugh is it's biggest supporter should be looked at twice and anyone black defending the tea party should have their heads examined.
Questions have been asked.....Where were the Tea Party Concerns when the Bush Administration were spending this country into a trillion dollar deficit. Why the majority of Tea Party Members rally behind republicians-knowing they like to succeed with the America's wealthy? Do you realize that question above excludes benefits away from middle class and the poor? Show me responsibility by responding to these above questions?
@Becky...
Then again, if me nor blackvoices never again receive an response from you, we don't have to ask ourselves why?

Why is this IR agenda being pushed so heavily right now? Especially towards black women. Thankfully most aren't that stupid.
