Michelle Obama Has Lunch with King & Queen of Spain

First Lady Michelle Obama and her youngest daughter, Sasha, are certainly enjoying their mother-daughter trip to Spain. Reportedly, Mrs. Obama and Sasha had lunch with Spain's King and Queen on the country's largest resort island, Majorca, located in the Mediterranean sea, which is part of the Balearic Islands archipelago.

King Juan Carlos I (pictured above), who has been the country's head of state since 1975, hosted the First Lady along with his wife, Queen Sofia, and daughter-in-law Princess Letizia at the Marivent palace.

The lunch menu was one that was indeed fit for a king and First Lady: Andalusian-style chilled gazpacho soup, chargrilled turbot, veal escalopes with mustard, Oriental rice with sauteed mushrooms, a Majorca-style vegetable ratatouille and sliced fruit with ice cream, accompanied by wines from the northern regions of Rueda and Rioja.

The lunch was the culmination of a private five-day mother-daughter trip that Mrs. Obama planned for herself and Sasha. The two visited historical and breathtaking popular tourist sites in the southern region of Andalusia, including Marbella, Ronda and the Alhambra palace in Granada.

Unfortunately, the Obama's oldest daughter, Malia, was away at summer camp and could not accompany her mom and sister. President Obama, who just celebrated a birthday a few days ago, had to tend to fund-raising events for his party. The President also spent a few kick-back days at his own home in the Hyde Park section of Chicago.

After lunch, King Juan Carlos gave Mrs. Obama some seeds for her garden while the Queen showered her with crafts that depict Spanish culture.

The Obamas left the country on Air Force One afterward.
