Mother of slain son Tujuan Ford, who was shot and killed, says, violence 'needs to stop'Two of Denise Ford's sons have been shot. One, Trent Benefield, was hit several times in the infamous 2006 Sean Bell shooting, in which an unarmed man was shot at 50 times by police who say he threatened them with a car.

Benefield survived and was recently awarded a $900,000 settlement.

Ford's other son, Tujuan (pictured bottom), 37, was not so lucky.

Police say he was at an illegal-gambling spot in New York City, when he was shot in the neck after an argument. He succumbed to his wounds last week.

Benefield used some of the money from the settlement to pay for his brother's funeral, according to the Daily News.

"We were hoping for the best," Benefield told the Daily News on Thursday.

"It needs to stop!" Ford said about the violence as she was leaving her son's funeral. "I hope they catch him, and he gets what he deserves," she added.

Benefield served as a pall bearer for his brother. Another victim of the Bell shooting, Joseph Guzman, was also present.

Police are still investigating Tujuan's death.

In another strange twist, a block party to honor Tujuan was held near another block party that turned tragic when police fired 46 bullets at two men who were fighting, one of whom they say had a gun. Luis Soto, 21, was likely killed by a bullet that was fired by police.

Ford also knew Angel Alvarez, the other man in the fight who was hit with at least 20 bullets. Alvarez had been to Harlem hospital to visit Ford and now he is there recovering from his wounds.

"He gave the advice a parent was supposed to give," Benefield said. "That's my brother. My heart."
