WASHINGTON - Democrats complain they were blindsided when President Obama weighed in on the Ground Zero mosque and handed the GOP a new club to beat them with.
Capitol Hill Democrats, including those facing tough races, were not told in advance before Obama's Friday night speech defending Muslims' rights to build a mosque in lower Manhattan.
While Mayor Bloomberg knew ahead of time what Obama intended to say at the Ramadan dinner at the White House, New York Democratic Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand were kept in the dark, sources said.
So was Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who dramatically broke with Obama on the mosque Monday.
Several Democratic campaign operatives complained that without a heads-up, they did not have the time to war-game how to handle questions from the news media or GOP attacks.
"They did the right thing - they just didn't do it the right way," lamented another Democratic source.
White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel has spent three days on the phone doing damage control with angry Democrats and urging them not to go public against the President, Democratic sources said.
Obama went ahead with the Ramadan dinner remarks even though his top political advisers had not reached a consensus on what he should do. Emanuel was one of the skeptics.

Obama is a Muslim plain and simple he is hiding behind christianity for for sometime he and his family haven't worshiped in a bible believing church, from what i heard it is the episcal church the same church that gene robinson the gay priest worships at that is the deomonation of the church, what happend to "Rick Warren"?
Know the whitehouse staff is running around doing damage control hello they didn't listen to keith olemann special? the president made it plain as day that he supported the building of the mosque no amount of damage control can change what he said or even spin! since when did any president have a ramadam dinner/meal? i know christians don't celebrate ramadam not if they are a true christians?

President Obama claimed that he wasn't a Muslim, so where's your proof. When you offer comments to issues of the day, at least offer some proof as to your misguided allegations. When you don't or can't, your display is one of ignorance.

He stated that they have a right by law to build. He didn't say he was for it. Just like he would have to say that the KKK has the right to assemble and wave a confederate flag. The Klans are murders like some of the muslims.
The question is now raised if they should, even though they could? A commentator said, "Yes, you can build a Catholic Church next to a playground, but should you?"
That would be in poor judgement and taste.

People has to realize...there are some things everybody is going to agree on and some things people are not going to agree on....and that's the way it is!!!..........I support President Obama on his decisions...and we ALL should support him weather we agree on it or not......ok

So why exactly should we support him if we don't agree w/ him? Is it b/c he is our President or b/c he is black? If it is b/c he is black, then that's racism. If it is b/c he is our President, then my question is would you or did you support George W. when you disagreed w/ him. If you didn't then that's hypocrisy.
