Erykah Badu gets fine, probation for naked stroll

Soulful singer Erykah Badu made headlines a few months back for stripping down beyond her unmentionables in her video 'Window Seat' on the landmark Dallas street where president John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963. Now, Badu has been slapped with a $500 fine and six months probation for exposing herself without regard to children or onlookers.

Dallas officials were none too pleased when word got out that Badu had stripped publicly and did not get a permit to do so. Although folks were reportedly yelling for Badu to put her clothes back on, police did not arrive during the filming of the now-infamous video. A witness did, however, give police a sworn complaint, and Badu was cited back in April for disorderly conduct.

The Dallas native chose Dealey Plaza to shoot her video, because it was the most monumental place in Dallas that she could think of.

The video shows Badu strutting down the street, slowly removing her clothing, then hitting the ground after a shot rings out. The sultry entertainer was once quoted as saying that making the video was "the bravest, most liberating thing I've ever seen."

The fine was paid last Friday, and there are no further comments from Badu's camp regarding the judgment.
