I'll give N.Y. GOP gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino one thing: he isn't afraid to to let the world know what he really thinks.
First, the Republican candidate for governor got caught sending out e-mails to friends and business associates filled with graphic racist images and and hard-core bestiality and pornography in April.
Now the wealthy Buffalo real estate developer is pushing a plan to transform some prisons into camps for welfare recipients, where they would work state jobs, get job training and learn how to bathe.
That's right, classes in "personal hygiene" would be given at Paladino's state-run facilities.
How about some classes in mental hygiene for Paladino, who has the backing of several Tea Party affiliates in New York state?
Paladino faces an uphill fight for the GOP nomination in New York against former U.S. Rep. Rick Lazio. The primary is Sept. 14. Maybe he's trying to get his name in the headlines by any means necessary.
Paladino said his plan is being put forth to help achieve a 20 percent cut in the state budget and a 10 percent income tax cut.
Criticizing Paladino's idea is like shooting fish in a barrel - it's far too easy because it is deplorable on so many levels.
Obviously, his "plan" for welfare recipients raises constitutional issues galore: He basically criminalizes welfare recipients and presumes people on welfare rather live in a prison setting than in their own homes. Not to mention that the personal-bathing habits swipe is gratuitous and mean-spirited.
I wonder if Paladino realizes that his idea that welfare recipients perform some type of work to get their benefits is already a part of federal law?
Paladino's website is called "paladinoforthepeople.com." I wonder how he can be "for the people," when he so brazenly insults "the people" with "plans" like these.
If this is what he thinks about those who are in need of help, especially with the economy being what it has been for the past two years, I can't imagine what he'd have in store for the state of New York.
Polarizing and disrespectful figures such as Paladino need to be showed that just because they are worth $150 million and pledge to spend $10 million in order to win the campaign, they aren't entitled to whatever they want.
If he doesn't respect the very people he intends to govern, he shouldn't get the privilege to run the state. With hope, the people of New York will show Paladino in September what they really think about him. It's only fair.

where do these ppl come from.. lol.. i can't take it.. now ppl on welfare need to learn how to bathe? a mess.. plus they already have a program out like that.. they have to work about 30 hrs or got to college f/t or a trade school and complete so many hours in order to continue to collect their benefits..
i want to believe ppl don't like sitting around collecting welfare.. it's just not enough money.. i have to pay rent, light-gas-heat-hot water, cable (triple play), car ins, life ins (4 me n my children), buy food, cel ph, commuting expenses 4 work, clothes 4 us all, and after care and extra-curricular activities for my children.. welfare is just not enough $$$ to live on..
i knw there are ppl that have no choice but to apply because they are jobless but i'm sure they are bathing..

I don't believe in SITTING AROUND COLLECTING WELFARE either but these attacks weren't happening when people thought they were SOO PROSPEROUS during the BUSH BUBBLE. This is just a means to VILLIFY THE POOR when the REAL VILLANS are on WALL STREET.

Palladino wants to use welfare recipients (who don't work) as bread and butter for prison guards (who aren't working) but still on NYS payroll. NYS has closed several prisons and the jobs of these prison guards will soon be eliminated.
Palladino wants to make the soon to be ex-prison guards "welfare counselors."
Something ain't right.
Similar to the fear tactic used by Pataki to create prison jobs in NY in the first place.

Carl Paladino is absolutely direct about his comments, but he's right about the cleanliness issues, he's wrong about it just being a poor welfare issue because rich people are dirty too, rich people could afford to have maids and nannies, poor people can't afford to buy trash bags, but on the other hand, they could afford to buy cigarettes $10.00 dollars a pack and spray paint for $5.00 dollars a can so they could graffiti the Ghetto, rich people pee on toilet seats too, so the story goes on and on and on, etc....

Why don't Paladino just come out and say that, he wants to reinstate "SLAVERY" he say everything else. No one hate the welfare system like I do, but the farming agenda stinks. Eugenics has been around for a long time in America is that what Carl wants to do purify Americans like Hitler. I think everyone should work, but Corporate America has sent work that receipients qualify for has been set overseas to sweatshops thanks to Bill Clinton. This man wants to put his State in reverse, but I do not think it will ever happen. He is not running for Governor he is running for division. He needs to do his statistics and find out that their are more White Americans on the Welfare than African Americans.

That is so true!!! I went to social services one time to drop off some medicaid info. There were almost a hundred people in the office, if not more than a hundred. There were only around 10 or 15 non-white people waiting to be seen. A friend of mine said to me one day, "There are more white folks on food stamps than black people, they just don't want anyone to know. They are slick about their s**t when they go to the grocery store." When I walked to that office that day I knew she was right. Seeing is believing, witnessing is proof.
