Elias Abuelazam, suspected in the racially motivated stabbings of 18 people in three states, was extradited to Michigan to face charges in one of the attacks.
Five people were killed in the assaults.
Abuelazam, 33, is being charged with assault and attempt to commit murder in the July 27 stabbing of a 26-year-old Flint man. Authorities in Virginia and Ohio have also filed charges against the Israeli national.
Initially, the case was portrayed by authorities as a race attack. However, police are now saying they aren't certain if race was a motivating factor. It leaves one to wonder whether it was just a coincidence that many of the stabbing victims were black men.
It was good police work and good fortune that led authorities to Abuelazam, who nearly evaded arrest.
Police in Atlanta caught him at an airport gate as he was about to board a plane to Tel Aviv.
The attacks that began in the spring followed a pattern, in which the suspect approached black men in the late evening on secluded roads and asked for help with a stalled vehicle or directions. Then without notice, the attacker pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim.
Little has been disclosed about why Abuelazam, a mental health technician, would allegedly go on such a violent crime spree. If found guilty, authorities should tie this guy down to a psychiatrist's couch for a long while before sending him to prison for the rest of his life.

Paul, good job keeping us updated on this situation. I for one and very curious to hear the details of this case as they unfold in court. As you said this guy needs to hit the couch and be studied before he goes to jail(I still think they should of let VA charge him first, we could of gotten rid of him as quick as the DC sniper)! People who do not understand the human psyche have no idea how ungodly these killings really are. There is a BIG difference between a serial killer like the dc sniper to kill at long range with a rifle v.s. this guy going up to his victims and stabbing them with a knife!! Stabbing is a very angry and emotionaly charged act!! That is why peepz should be concerned about 100x more about this guy than the DC sniper!!
I would like your help with some thing Paul.....or any one else who can respond with out being an azz(and i will leave it at that).
Why is it that so many peepz here and many other sites, readers like myself, writers like you, were so mad and riled up when this guy was thought to be "white" but now that is has been cleared up that he is "Israeli" that it seems the fact that this guy's victims were mostly black (except 1 or 2 I think) is not as big an issue?? And even if he was, would anything he said make people think it was not about race??? If he was white and said the same thing, would peepz still accept it?? See what I mean, it's just kind of disturbing to see unfold. I will keep up and see if you can enlighten me, or some one else. PLEASE NO RACIST CRAP EITHER, I am asking a legit question and am interested in a well thought out, intelligent answer??
