Dwight Howard (pictured above) of the NBA's
Orlando Magic and his child's mother have not been able to come to work together when it comes to their son. As evidence, I present the foolishness that occurred when Howard picked up his son from daycare recently.
According to
TMZ,
Royce Reed (pictured below with son)
called the cops, because it was not Howard's day to pick the boy up.
Reed showed up when she found out that Howard was trying to pick up the boy. According to Reed, their custody agreement did not give Howard the right to pick the child up on that day. Police intervened at Reed's request and called Howard who had already left with the child.
In turn, Howard thought that he and his ex had made a new custody agreement, but it turns out the agreement was discussed but not signed. Howard sent his nanny back to the daycare center with the boy and Reed took the child home.
Reed later issued a statement saying that her son "was seriously traumatized by the unlawful actions of Dwight and his staff, and Royce will rely upon the Courts to prevent future incidents from occurring."
Sounds a little over the top to me-- just like the fighting going on between these two adults. It's sad that Reed and Howard can't stop bickering for the good of their child.
This isn't the first beef that the two of them have had, though. Howard
sued to stop Reed from participating in a show called "
Basketball Wives," which is ironic because she is not, and likely never will be, married to Howard. Mothering a child does not make you a wife.
Howard also sued Reed for allegedly
bashing him on the Internet.
It's a shame to see a young black man who has an interest in raising his child end up in court over the issue. How many times do we say that black fathers need to be more responsible? It's pitiful that they are in court fighting over custody and couldn't come to a joint-parenting agreement.
Maybe Dwight should take the lead in this case. Being that he is a millionaire many times over, maybe he and Reed can come to some sort of financial settlement that also settles the custody issue.
It's clear that Reed deserves financial support from Howard if she wins custody of the child. Howard may feel that Reed is using their child as a way to extract money from him, but that's not important now. What matters is the health and mental well-being of that child.
If Howard and Reed think that
Braylon won't remember much because he's only 2 years old, both are wrong. Drawn-out custody battles like this could take several years and result in decades of resentment that will still exist when Braylon is on his way to high school or college.
It's best to nip this foolishness in the bud.

What a shame. Thats why you must consider everything when you decide to have kids with another person. It is a life time commitment that can be a disaster. It only just started with these 2. The child is only 2 y/o.

Bernie, she is bitter because she was a cheerleader for the Orlando Majic and since league rules specify that cheerleaders and players are not to 'date', she quit the squad at his request to pursue a relationship. Unfortunately, soon after she became pregnant, he dumped her for "Megan".
It still doesn't mean that she should keep him away from his son, that call to the police was simply her being petty, and them not communicating.
I don't like him, personally, I think he's a jerk ( this was before all of the drama w/ this chick... I never really liked him). But she is dead wrong for this. He doesn't want her, she needs to put on her 'big girl panties', they need to come together w/ some type of custody agreement, and get on with their lives.
This is a prime example, of ppl so busy trying to get into each others pants and not getting to know each other.
I guess youth really is wasted on the young.

Giving birth to a child doesn't make you a wife or real mother either, but the author didn't feel the need to state that. Shocker.
Clearly, her over-the-top reaction to a situation that was clearly a mistake which Howard rectified immediately is indicative of a woman, like so many are, interested in a high-conflict battle over custody of the child which is motivated by $$$$.
You go girl!

I'm sure that every chance she gets she will let her son know what a "no good man his dad is" just to fill his son with hate for his father. "That's what these type of women do"
move on!!

Like, I continue to say, "these black men just need to leave these black women alone!" It's, just not worth the aggravation! However, on the positive side I see that more, and more black men are now discovering that reality, and "finally" starting to move on to non-black women! And, that's the thing to do! With black women being the "highest risk group" for HIV/AIDS both genders, and with "staggering" numbers for STD's in the nation for all races of women it's clear that the overwhelming majority of men of any color don't want them! Stop, the madness! Because you just don't need the drama, or the headaches!

You can not be serious. lol! You state black women being the "highest risk group" for HIV/AIDS?? Who in the HELL do you think we are getting it from??? Yeah you guessed it, BLACK MEN?? I hate when people quote that statistic in total ignorance. So if that number is soo high the number amoungst black men has to be higher??! Or are we all just sleeping with one HIV infected man?? In the words of Antoine Dodson. "You are soo dumb, You are really dumb." LOL!!

I have to laugh at Iris calling out other people for being ignorant when her reply is one big ball of ignorance. But who needs intelligence when it's SO easy nowadays to blame men for everything.
Iris apparently believes that the root of HIV/AIDS is black men and this somehow absolves women for responsibility for its spread among all those they have sex with.
Don't let accepting personal responsibility for the choices you make get in the way of man-blaming. Great job there, Iris.
In the words of too many women... "Try keeping it in your pants."
