For all those people who thought the outrageous rhetoric coming from Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin was about anything other than the Benjamins, you were wrong.
Fresh off of his Washington, D.C., rally, where he claimed to "restore honor" to America, Beck is restoring decimals to his wallet by charging anywhere from $73.75 to $225 per ticket to hear him speak on 9/11, according to the AP. And right by his side is none other than Sarah Palin.
The event's 4,500 tickets have already been sold, netting a minimum of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Now, both Beck and Palin have made themselves very wealthy with their divisive, ignorant and (often) untrue statements. ABC News estimated in April that Palin had raked in at least $12 million since July 2009. She earns $250,000 per episode for her television show about Alaska and demands $100,000 per speaking engagement. I'm sure that figure is higher by now.
Beck has also done well for himself by making ridiculous statements, such as calling President Barack Obama racist. Forbes estimated that Beck made $32 million in 2009.
"I could give a flying crap about the political process," Beck told Forbes. "We're an entertainment company."
That's why both Beck and Palin should be ashamed of themselves for exploiting the 9/11 anniversary for their own financial gain.
When asked why the event was being held on 9/11, event organizer Chris Cox called it a "coincidence." He claimed he didn't want to compete with the Alaska State Fair, which was being held on Sept. 4. Tweet
Why not hold the event on Sept. 12 or another date that accommodates both Palin and Beck's schedules? The problem with these two taking serious problems facing this country and turning them into cartoon-like issues, complete with uninformed and outrageous comments, is that people actually take their comments as facts.
Millions of Americans, including the 4,500 people who paid to see these two speak, are taking Beck and Palin's commentary on everything from health care, immigration, race relations and foreign relations and using it to inform their opinions on these important topics.
Meanwhile, as Beck himself stated so clearly, he's in the business of entertaining and getting paid.
The result is the erosion of decent civic discourse in this country. It's now about who can say the most outrageous thing or who can twist facts and history to fit their version of events no matter how nonsensical that version of events may be.
Even some Republicans acknowledge that Beck, Palin and Rush Limbaugh are now the de facto leaders of a major American political party.
"There were no death panels in the (health care) bill ... and to encourage that kind of fear is just the lowest form of political leadership. It's not leadership. It's demagoguery,'' said Rep. Bob Inglis, a South Carolina Republican who lost his primary.
Inglis said that people like Limbaugh, Beck and Palin are "preying on" the "fears'' of Americans.
"I think we have a lot of leaders that are following those (television and talk radio) personalities and not leading,'' he said. "What it takes to lead is to say, 'You know, that's just not right.'''

@ rik naw dont get all salty now and attack AL & Jesse Jackson.Palin and Beck did not only restored Honor they restored their pocket books on the expenses of the White Tea Baggers with yall silly asses.. LOL.LOL. See Al had a rally too it was free no ticket sells at all on the same day as Beck and did not make a profit.
@djkut I hear ya, but I disagree. First it’s not an attack it it’s true, and there is no doubt that "all four" profit off of "ism's". Glen and Sarah "patriotism", and Al and Jesse "racism".
Let me help ya help, because maybe you don’t know how it’s done.
Al and Jesse both line their pockets thru Rainbow Push and the national action network. They set up these non-profits and thru tax breaks and individual and corporate donations take in millions. Then maybe 20 to 25 cents on the dollar will go to various causes. Where do u think the other 75 to 80 cents is going.
Another example Jesse attempts to control minority contract bidding thru various companies (see Toyota and Budweiser), Jesse refers to this as shaking the tree. But in-order for the minority to get the contract, they have play ball with Jesse (pay him).
Once the IRS audits both organizations, they found wide spread accounting errors, in other words they couldn’t account for the money, that is millions were unaccounted for. Those two didn’t want anyone to know where it actually went. An audit it is how they found out about the money given to Jesse’s mistress and baby.
So, Al didn’t charge for the event, how gracious of him, and clearly it impressed you. I’ll be impressed when he pays back more than 2 million in back taxes. By the way Jesse is in the same boat.
So that’s it. If Al and Jesse can hustle black folk, Glen and Sarah can hustle white folk. Don’t be a hypocrite!
By the way the last i heard, after cost 100% of donations went to veterens. Can All and Jesse make the same claim.
that is the reason why her child is got down. yet she is still in out there with hate. God spoke to her through her child and he is not through with her yet. I feel sorry for her worthless ass cause all money is not good money.
What's wrong with going around making speeches for money? Bill Clinton does it. Al Gore does it. The list of people who speak for money is endless. 9/11 is an appropriate day for Glenn beck and Sarah Palin to speak because they are patriotic Americans. Jeff, you sound like you got a lot of hate in you. Instead of taking it out on hard working ,patriotic, taxpayers, why not take out your hate on lowlife felons and welfare scum.
They're so patriotic they "forgot" what happened on 9-11 and it was just a coincidence their rally will take place on that date. If that is what patriots do call me unpatriotic.
dumb ?ss!!! say what you want their is nothing you can do, as his-tory states blks will be the leading majority in this country ha! ha! so go get your weapons and we'll see you in jail while we lead this country back to its greatness without fear and rascist scum like you hahahaha
