A fourth lawsuit has been filed against Atlanta-area pastor Eddie Long, alleging he coerced a 17-year-old into a sexual relationship during a 2005 trip the two took to Africa.
The suit -- filed, like the others, in DeKalb County, Georgia, State Court -- claims Long invited Spencer LeGrande, now 22, on a trip to Kenya.
On the first night in Nairobi, Long asked LeGrande to come to his room, where the youth told the pastor he was having difficulty going to sleep, the suit states. Long provided Ambien, a sleep aid, and they both took the drug, according to the suit.
Long then gave LeGrande a hug, kissed and licked the youth's lips and rubbed the teen's chest, according to the lawsuit. They slept in bed together that evening and during the rest of the Kenya trip, the lawsuit states, adding they went on shopping sprees.

We'll see if people continue to blindly and faithfully throw money at this playboy.
He has used the word of god to manipulate his own self-serving greedy wants and desires.
Some would argue that they buy their Bentleys, Bling and Mega-mansions with their own money from book sales and appearance fees.
Wouldn’t one think that those drawing others to a parish
THEN (and only THEN) becoming able to make a few bucks on the side with contacts, books, lectures, public appearances, etc, should be doing less bling’n with a windfall that is not meant to be theirs.
If financing of one’s (EXORBITANT) lifestyle originates from their manipulation of scripture, don’t you think if god were around (in physical form) he would once again, in a show of anger and disgust smash those acquired materialistic items to the ground?
Don’t you think a GOD frowns upon those using HIS influence to buy a Bentley and private jet as opposed to a prius and flying coach? Don’t you think god is owed better fiscal management than those that make a profit off the very back they rode to obtain it?
How many starving children in Africa and Haiti could be fed off the back of a Bently and Private Jet? It takes 35 bucks a month to prevent one child from dying so you do the math.
Sporting around in a Bentley becomes less glamorous when compared to a shot of a mother burying her “starved” child in a mass grave.
As to the Mega-church, it takes a mega-chunk of change to operate these places. Don't you think that money should be used for a better purpose.
The sermon on the mount did not require a colossal energy starved mega-complex to accomplish.

Bishop Baker seemed to have bent over backwards to help these young men.

Wow. This story is just getting stranger by the minute. How many more people are going to come to the surface?
Side-note: Although I personally believe the Bishop is guilty of fooling around with these young men, how in the hell were these 17 & 18 year olds coerced? I don't believe he used any power to force this males to do anything. Trading trips to New Zealand, college tuition, and money in exchange for sexual favors sound more like prostitution than coercion to me.

Obviously you don't understand the power of the pulpit. He was in authority and a celebrity in his own world. Many of these pastors are put on pedestals and treated like Kings. Would YOU deny the KING? Not many people would or do. That's part of the sickness that many of them develop. Yes, they were co-erced. I don't care if they were 17 yr old boys or 30 year old women, it's very possible. I love God and I love the church but there are some sick, sick people in some of our pulpits. However one of the worse part is the leaders that enable them by encouraging, pretending to be blind or simply looking the other way. I think they are just as guilty.

Supposedly more lawsuits to come. I really don't know under what grounds there are for a civil case since everyone was of legal age. I know in Kentucky 16 is the age of consent except when the adult is an authority figure such as a teacher (or perhaps a minister). I think this should be the law in Georgia.
Regardless I'm still not clear about how they can sue him. The lawyer mentioned something about him "breaking his fiduciary duty as a pastor" but she did not quote any such law that he violated. Thinking about it now I suppose the boys could sue for psychological trouble since he abused his position over them. I suppose she is going to have to convince the jury of this violation since it doesn't seem to be in any law books anywhere.

That's why these are all Civil cases and not Criminal cases. In a Civil Suit you don't have to prove that any laws were broken. You just have to prove that there were damages and personal suffering.

I could care less about Eddie Long, but I do really feel sorry for his family, I will pray for his wife and children, because this has to be a very very difficult time for them!
