Bad policing seems to be a uniquely American product, but bad guys with badges can work anywhere in the world.
The latest example of poor policing making the rounds on the Internet comes from Australia, where police officers were caught on tape Tasering a drunk man who posed no risk.
If they had buzzed him once to force him to comply with orders, one might be inclined to give the Aussie cops a break. But they shocked the man a total of 13 times. He did nothing more than roll around on the floor trying to avoid the electric jolts.
Though nine officers were present, just two officers were fined for unjust use of Tasers, which are supposed to be employed by the West Australian Police Force only in situations of immediate danger or serious injury.
The 39-year-old suspect was taken into custody by police after "assaulting police officers, resisting arrest and common assault."
Funny, those are almost the exact same charges police in this country use to explain away a beat-down delivered to a suspect.
The suspect decided not to press charges against the officers. Neither was fired. In fact, one was promoted to sergeant since the Taser attack. Figures an officer who should be fired gets a promotion.
We all know most police officers simply want to do their jobs and get home safely. But every now and then, bad apples can be found in the barrel.
Bad cops do no one any favors. They hurt the credibility of good police officers and endanger the public they are sworn to serve. Brutal cops ought to be fired as soon as they make themselves known.
28-Sep-10 - Trying to get various black public figures to speak out for or against Bishop Eddie Long has been harder than getting 4-year-olds to go to the dentist. No one is talking, but everyone is paying attention.
27-Sep-10 - Jessica Moore, 19, was hanging out at an off-campus frat party Saturday, when a man who was angry about not getting in to the party, came back with a gun and started shooting. Moore was shot in the head.
23-Sep-10 - Some really "interesting" pictures of Bishop Eddie Long, which were allegedly sent by Long to one of his "spiritual sons," were made public last week.
22-Sep-10 - According to federal authorities, Jesse Jackson Jr. not only tried to buy President Barack Obama's former Senate seat from Rod Blagojevich, but he also had a fundraiser pay for two airline trips for a blond mistress.
17-Sep-10 - James Jones was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and disturbing a school function for protecting his disabled young daughter from heartless bullies.
16-Sep-10 - Vancouver police confirmed that Bethany Storro lied about a black woman throwing acid on her face. Storro actually threw the acid on herself.
That video clip is sickening. Tasered 13 times? It's about 8 or 9 cops there. The man was in so much pain that you could hear it through the clip. That's really sad and one of the cops got a promotion?
Some of the cops were laughing and cursing at the man and one of the cops kept saying you want some more you want some more?
Sometimes in America even if cops go to trial-that doesn't mean they will be found guilty but those ausey police tasered that unarmed man who didn't pose a threat-13 times. Even if he didn't press any charges-those officers who tasered him should've been fired!
Australia always had a problem with how they treat their citizens, the indigenous (Aboriginals) in particular. The arrogance of these officers to know that there's a surveillance camera right there-yet they still do what they did.
This tells me that the cops are so feared by these people and tolerated by the judicial system-that they doesn't need to worry about who saw their horrific behavior.
What these cops did wasn't just assault-they also violated that man's civil rights, hopefully international outrage will put the spotlight on this massive abuse of power!

Maybe the problem is police in Australia have easy access to Tazers.
