When R&B crooner
Teddy Pendergrass died in January, he was pretty much penniless. The place that he called home in Penn Valley, Pa., was foreclosed on over the summer and will be sold in a sheriff's sale next month. The estate also has an outstanding car loan and a pending lawsuit by a former partner.
Pendergrass's money woes, though, have not stopped his second wife
, Joan, and son
Teddy II from warring over what's left of the late entertainer's estate.

Apparently, both wife and son have wills that state opposing demands: Joan's will says that Teddy II receives nothing from the estate, while Teddy II's will says Joan is to receive nothing.
It may very well be that the multiaward–winning singer wasn't in a clear state of mind when he drew up the wills.
On Wednesday, both Joan and Teddy II met with a judge but left the legal process without a binding agreement. The parties are feuding more so over the singer's legacy than money.
LaDonna Pendergrass Hollerway, one of Teddy's daughters, speculates that Joan only sees dollar signs in her future via books, films about Teddy's controversial life or a reality show:
"She was married to my dad for only a year, and she has turned my family upside down," Hollerway, a hospital technician in Plano, Texas, told the Associated Press.
On the flip side, Joan's attorney refutes the accusations about his client's monetary ambitions:
"To say it's a money grab is ludicrous -- there's just no money to fight about," said Kevon Glickman.
At a recent tribute held at the screening of a documentary about Pendergrass' life, Teddy II and Joan had to take the stage together. Teddy II flat out refused to hug or be photographed with his stepmother and had this to say about her:
"We simply don't see eye to eye. What I do know is my father did what he intended to do -- and that is put me in charge for the family."
Joan's supporters say, however, that she was a diligent and caring wife who bent over backward to tend to the mega-performer's every need. They say that she loved her husband dearly and cared for all his children as well.
Time will tell which way the estate pendulum will swing. Stay tuned.

How many times have we seen this happen? Entertainers need to get their sh** together while they're alive and have sound mind. I can understand that Teddy died penniless because he wasn't recording and touring. The woman came into his life at a "down" time, but his kids were there through his whole life.
I hope they can settle this.
Tyrese already stated he's to play Teddy in a movie, the wife made the deal. The children didn't know about this?

I agree, these stars need to get their business in order while they're still in their right minds. This has happened too many times. Look at Barry White's and James Brown's family feuds over the $$$$$. It's sad.

As an attorney who has practiced Probate Law for years, I have come to find that in vertually every case the relatives will fight after the loved one passes. And in cases involving celebrities, there are rights to music, likeness, residuals, and legacy that can be profitable for years and years after death. With some celebrities, this can be worth millions even though the person was penniless at their death.

Emalekev: Why does every white person's skin hangs, sags, wrinkle up and get liver spotted when they age? because of all the hate and evil they carry in their soul passed down from your ancestors.
