Hip Hop Executive Bryan Leach arrested for gun possession

RCA Music Group senior vice president Bryan Leach was arrested in New York City on Wednesday for criminal possession of a loaded weapon and reckless driving.

Leach was spotted in Manhattan by New York's finest driving erratically shortly after midnight. When police stopped his vehicle, they spotted a .380-caliber semiautomatic pistol in the vehicle's center console. The pistol was loaded with six hollow-point bullets, which expand upon impact and disrupt more tissues as they travel through the target. It is not clear whether Leach owns a gun permit.

The 41-year-old, who runs his own label, Polo Grounds Music, within RCA's umbrella, has worked with hip-hop A-listers such as Lil Jon, the Ying Yang Twins and Pitbull.

Leach did not enter a plea at the time of his arraignment.

Reportedly, the high-profile Harlem native has a previous police record. According to prosecutors, back in 1994, Leach had a gun-possession conviction.

Leach's lawyer, James McMillan, refused to comment on his client's charges but did reveal that his character is one of consummate professionalism and generosity.

According to McMillan, several after-school programs are funded by Leach. He was also named as a "Rising Star" under age 40 on Crain's 2007 New York Business list. The attorney also mentioned that Leach is the sole provider of his terminally ill mother, who is financially dependent upon him for her cancer treatments.

A New York City judge set bail at $50,000 for the married father of three young children.

RCA Music has not released a statement in response to Leach's arrest.
