According to TMZ, the Los Angeles County District Attorney has rejected the drug case from T.I.'s September 1st arrest:
Sources from the D.A.'s Office claim that they are not going forward with charges because, in essence, he's already been sentenced to prison since the arrest was a violation of his federal probation.
However, law enforcement sources tell TMZ there were significant legal issues over probable cause which led to T.I.'s arrest.
Cops claimed they smelled marijuana, but no pot was ever booked into evidence. And, we're told ...T.I. was pulled out of his $250,000 Maybach immediately, after he made the illegal U-turn and prior to any registration check.
It looks as if T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., finally received some mercy. T.I. will still be reporting to jail on November 1, but at least he does not have to face additional charges and possible jail time from the arrest in California.
In September, T.I. and his wife, Tameka Cottle, were driving along Sunset Blvd.in their Maybach at around 10:30 p.m., when police pulled them over. When officers searched the vehicle, after the smell of marijuana permeated the air, they arrested the couple. Deputies found four ecstasy pills on the Grammy-award winner during the arrest, according to reports. The duo was booked on felony possession of a controlled substance charge.
T.I. was on supervised release after serving 10 months in prison for federal weapons charges when he was arrested in California. As a condition of his release, T.I. was ordered not to commit another crime or illegally possess a controlled substance. Because of the arrest, T.I. was sentenced to another 11 months in prison earlier this month.

"Sources from the D.A.'s Office claim that they are not going forward with charges because, in essence, he's already been sentenced to prison since the arrest was a violation of his federal probation."
JohnL: What?!
Since no evidence was found, then TI was arrested unfairly.
And if he was wrongly arrested, it shouldn't be a violation of his probation.
And by the way, I'm not a fan.
wisdom: I,am the layer that got him out of jail. Please replt to me if you need to be set free.I only charge $5,000 per hour and our first meeting last 5 hours
JohnL: Heh heh heh!
I wouldn't hire you for a penny an hour, based on your grammatically-incorrect sentences.

Somebody should have given T.I. a heads up as far as taking that trip to L.A. The cops hear you are coming and set out to bust you or worse. Look at Biggy. His murder still hasn't been solved and rumor has it that cops were the one that killed him and have tried to make it look gang related or retaliation related.
This article just doesn't make since. I am not sure if I will find any credence to anything I read on this site because this isn't the first time you get a story that has too many gaps in it or too many editorial opinions. This is not real journalism.
I would like to also know how the charges could have been dropped, but he still has to "report to jail on Nov 1st" and how he is not going to do jail time, but he has to report to jail? How did he actually get a probation violation if the charges were dropped? Was he not suppose to leave the state of GA or something? The person who wrote this article and the people who allowed it to be put on this site should be ashamed to consider themselves journalist. The facts are just too flemsy and vague and there doesn't seem to be any good research done. There is just too many unanswered questions.

They did not prosecute because he was already under federal supervision and by violating that he has already been giving jail time. Basically they are not going to waste money, time and resources prosecuting someone who is already being supervised by another jurisdiction. This is no indication of his innocence or false arrest. The man was clearly guilty of that by evidence and drug testing and comingling with a convicted felon. ANOTHER violation. Whether the LAPD is doing that or not, why give them more ammunition or a reason to continue?!?!

Thank you Shaela for the clarification. I agree with you that although L.A.P.D. are as crooket as the yellow brick road, folks like T.I. give them all the ammunition they need.

Hello Young Black and intelligent males. I am a mother of 3 young black boys who need to speak to the mothers of young black boys, we must teach our sons not to be targets but to target education and stay focused on positive aspects of their lives. We must also set an example of the kind of women we want in our son's live, god fearing and intelligent woman who will not do whatevever our sons want them to do.
T.I just got out of prison and already has become a target of the police. Our young black boys must understand that they are targeted more than there white counterparts and will continue to be unless we as mothers and fathers fight and stop relaxing on our .......!! We can come together as a people and stand up protest, write you congressman, speak out. Years ago my parents taught me this saying that Dr. Martin Luther King use to say: "If A Man does not have Anything He is willing to Die for, Than He is Not fit to Live"
