McDonald's Workers in Ohio Told to Vote Republican

Managers of a Canton, Ohio, McDonald's served a pretty unappetizing message to employees the other day:

Vote Republican or get no raises or benefits
.

The vote-GOP message was included with employee paychecks, so you know they were well-read by workers.

The letter went as far as listing candidates the managers believed "will help our business move forward," naming Republicans John Kasich for governor, Rob Portman for Senate and Jim Renacci for Congress.

This example of voter intimidation isn't that much different from the poll taxes and literacy tests used to keep black voting suppressed in the South.

It is a blatant attempt to rob voters of their rights.

A corporate spokesman for McDonald's said the company had no knowledge the flyer was being sent out.

But the owner of the restaurant in question, Paul Siegfried, said, "We are simply giving out information. There was no intention of telling them what to do."

What a load of crap!

I hope local authorities scrub their books to see what charges, if any, this character can be brought up on.

Siegfried knows that when the man who controls the purse strings says jump, the response from many will be "how high?"

That control is fine for matters like how much salt to add to french fries or should a Big Mac get one or two squirts of special sauce, but when it comes to what happens at the ballot box, Siegfried and all other employers need to butt out.
