Cedric Miller is known nationally as "the Facebook Pastor," after telling his congregation to ban Facebook in order to save their marriages. Miller went as far as telling his church leaders that if they didn't give up their Facebook accounts, he would remove them from their posts.
It turned out that Pastor Miller may have had his own reasons for fearing Facebook. The popular social-networking site may have been linked to the affair the pastor had involving his male assistant and his wife. Whether it was swinging, bisexual activity or something else, most of us know that a preacher shouldn't be "getting freaky" at bible study (which is where much of the sex allegedly took place, according to court testimony).
Pastor Miller took his humiliation like a man. In a public display of what seemed to be sincere contrition, the pastor told his church that he would step down in response to his being exposed for living a double life. The problem was that his reaction was only temporary: Rather than giving up his post permanently, the pastor plans to leave for just a little while and return in 90 days. In other words, it seems that he plans on stepping down long enough for the controversy to cool itself off, and then it may be back to business as usual.
Miller, who is the pastor at the Living Word Christian Fellowship Church in Neptune Township, N.J., received a vote of confidence as the church's spiritual leader before making his decision public. He also said that he came to his conclusion after "prayer and thoughtful consideration" by the members of the board, according to the church's spokesperson.
Miller must be given credit for attempting to take a stand against something that does play a role in undermining the sanctity of the marital bond in quite a few families across America. There is nothing wrong with a person learning from his mistakes and using that as credibility when admonishing the actions of others. It would have been better had Miler "fessed up" from the beginning, rather than trying to appear holier than thou.
The challenge for Pastor Miller, however, is that he can't stop people from using Facebook. Facebook, and sites like it, are never going to go away. The only thing we can do is learn to live in a world where human beings are interconnected. Telling people to stop using Facebook and other sites is like telling men to stop going to work because women are going to be there.
As for his own personal choices, I openly wonder if Pastor Miller might be perceived to be a hypocrite for having a zero-tolerance policy toward members of his church who possess flaws that are not nearly as dramatic as his own. I also fear for the black community, which puts a tremendous amount of faith in quite a few spiritual leaders whose spirits are not nearly as pure as we are led to believe. Rather than being told what to believe by our so-called spiritual leaders, perhaps it makes sense for us to simply think for ourselves.

He need to go permanently. Especially since it appears that he was not forthcoming from the beginning and only got contrite after being busted.
Black people, wake up and think for yourselves. Read the Bible for yourselves, then you would know that this man is not fit to lead a congregation of Christians. He should be disciplined by the church governing body and asked to step down permanently, then loved back into fellowship with God. That is the obligation of the church. This is exactly why the Bible teaches that because of tolerance of this type of behavior, the church is weak and ineffective. We as Christians are supposed to judge each others behavior in love. It is the unsaved world that we do not judge.

I agree that he should go permanently as well. My biggest concern- even as we watch the unfolding of Bishop Long- is that there are people who have yet to develop in their understanding-they are Babies in Christ. Those of us who have matured in our faith understand that "we must develop a strong trust in God APART from those who lead us so that we can stand firmly in our faith when our leadership changes or Disappoints us". However, the babies in Christ stand in the wings because of their lack of understanding. Unfortunately, we have brought up a generation that has Never been introduced to God. Although it is not God's will for us to fall into the gutter before we get to know Him, many will. That's why it's very dangerous to sit under Pastors who are leading their congregations to them instead of God-they run the risk of sinking individuals into sin far worse than their initial escape. God grants us free-will and people willingly continue to sit in this kind of mess. Why is there still a congregation for him to leave?

I think he should step down permanently. What got me is the fact that he was telling the members of his congregation to delete their facebook accounts and not to use social networking sites because it was breaking up marriages. Facebook and networking sites do not break up marriages. People do that. Most of the time on these social networking sites, people are misrepresenting themselves. Most of them are married but state that they're either single or in a relationship and it's complicated. If people who are married would conduct themselves accordingly, there wouldn't be a problem. There are too many married people out there chasing after the "forbidden fruit."

IF THE MAN IS TRULY REPENTANT AND REALLY MEANS BUSINESS AND WONT GO BACK TO THE LIFE
OF SIN.
THAN HE SHOULD BE GIVEN ANOTHER CHANCE.
MAYBE HE IS REALLY SORRY, GIVE THE MAN
ANOTHER CHANCE.........YOU WOULD WANT ANOTHER CHANCE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that he should be given another chance, especially if the church is willing to forgive his transgression. The bottom line is that God uses whom He will. Everyone chosen in the Bible to do God's work was flawed at some time and had to suffer in disgrace/consequences of his/her actions, that is why Jesus had to die for our sins. I admire him for fessing up. I am a pastor, and I fess up even though I have not gotten into such a mess as he has. I hope his wife and children will be able to stand strong with all the publicity this has given this family and the church also. Only time will tell.

Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. 2 Corinthians 7:10
